Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi, who is out indefinitely with a broken ankle, underwent surgery on Wednesday to correct the issue.
Scuderi missed a game, in Carolina on Monday, for the first time since the 2009-10 season after being injured Saturday in a collision with Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson.
He returned to Pittsburgh as an unrestricted free agent, signing a four-year deal in July after four seasons with the Los Angeles Kings. The Boston College product and Long Island native played for the Penguins from 2003-09, winning a Stanley Cup. He also won a Cup with LA in 2012.
Scuderi has seven goals and 80 assists in 596 NHL games.
