Berea, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Browns released troubled wide receiver Davone Bess on Wednesday.
Bess has been in the news for all the wrong reasons this offseason. He was arrested on Jan. 17 at an airport in Florida on charges of assaulting a police officer. The arrest occurred just one day after Bess posted a photo on his Twitter page of a small package containing what appeared to be marijuana.
The 28-year-old Bess played for the Miami Dolphins from 2008-2012 before being traded to the Browns in 2013. He finished with 42 catches for 362 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games last season, missing the final two contests for personal reasons.
Bess has caught 363 passes for 3,809 yards and 14 touchdowns in 91 career games with Miami and Cleveland.
The Hawaii product is still owed a guaranteed $3.067 million for 2014. The Browns signed him to a three-year contract extension shortly after they obtained him in the trade with Miami.
The Browns also released wide receiver Brian Tyms and linebacker Paul Hazel.
