San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers released veteran wide receiver Robert Meachem and 10 more players Saturday to get down to the league-mandated 53-man roster limit.
Offensive tackle Nick Becton, linebackers Frank Beltre and Thomas Keiser, tight ends Ben Cotton and David Rolf, cornerbacks Marcus Cromartie and Josh Johnson, defensive end Logan Harrell, running back Michael Hill and center David Molk were also released by the Chargers.
"I thanked all of the players for giving us their 100 percent effort and dedication," rookie San Diego head coach Mike McCoy said. "They all worked extremely hard and gave us everything they had.
"Days like this are never easy. I have been in their shoes. I was cut five times by five different teams. I feel for these men."
The Chargers will open their season on Sept. 9, when they hosts the Houston Texans.
