U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Freshman All-America, a First Team All-Southeastern Conference pick by the Associated Press and selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches` (NABC) All-District team for consideration for All-America honors in his only year at Kentucky...Led the nation in blocked shots with 4.4 per contest, registering a total of 106 rejections in 24 games prior to suffering a season-ending knee injury...Averaged 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest, his rebounding and blocked shots pacing the SEC...Recorded 50 steals, the only player standing above 6-5 to place in the nation`s top-30 in that category...Joins Anthony Davis as only player in Kentucky history to have at least 70 blocks and 50 steals in the same season...Tore ACL versus Florida on Feb. 12 but did not have surgery until a month later, once swelling had subsided, with recovery expected to take between 6-8 months...Named the USA Today National Player of the Year and earned Parade All-America honors in high school...Rated the top center prospect coming out of Tilton High School (MA)...Dominating presence in the paint who was expected to stay just one year with the Wildcats even before injury.
