Detroit Pistons (0-6) at Houston Rockets (2-3), 8 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Detroit Pistons are still searching for their first win
of the season and hope to get it Saturday against the Houston Rockets.
The 0-6 Pistons haven't lost their first seven games since the 1980-81
campaign and also went 0-5 two seasons ago.
Detroit fell to 0-5 on a six-game road trip with Friday's 105-94 setback to
the defending Western Conference champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Rookie Andre
Drummond paced the Pistons with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Greg
Monroe added 14 points, 10 boards and six assists.
"It's not really about the points. I could have scored four points. I just
really wanted to win today," Drummond said. "This was a great team we played
today. We fought hard throughout the game. I'm just really upset that we
Detroit hasn't won in Oklahoma City since the team moved there before the
2008-09 season. Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey netted 16 and 15 points,
respectively, in a losing effort.
The Pistons made 41.4 percent from the field and couldn't overcome the
sharpshooting of the Thunder, who made 53.5 percent of their shots. Oklahoma
City got 25 points from both Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka.
Detroit and Washington (0-4) are the only winless teams in the NBA.
Houston is still looking for its first home win of the season (0-2) and will
begin a three-game residency tonight versus Detroit, Miami and New Orleans.
James Harden and the Rockets have come back to earth after a 2-0 start and are
in the midst of a three-game slide. In Friday's 93-85 setback at Memphis,
Chandler Parsons tallied 19 points and Harden registered 18 points on 4-of-18
shooting for the Rockets. Harden is averaging 19 ppg in the last three.
"We had 20 turnovers, and they had 18 offensive rebounds," Houston head coach
Kevin McHale said. "That's too much. We have got to control that."
The turnovers led to 27 points for the Grizzlies, whose bench outscored
Houston's reserves by a 29-15 margin. Houston made 40.8 percent of its shots
and lost for the first time on the road (2-1).
Memphis also finished with a season-high 14 steals and scored 21 fast break
The Rockets beat the Pistons, 105-96, back on Oct. 31, when Harden scored 37
points and handed out 12 assists in his Houston debut. The Rockets have won
