(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Clippers hope to get back on track when
they resume a seven-game road trip Monday afternoon against the Detroit
Pistons on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
The Clippers had won five in a row, including the opener of this trip in New
York on Friday, but dropped a 106-92 decision at Indiana the following night.
Pacers forward Paul George posted 36 points, while the Clippers were led by
Jamal Crawford's 22 points off the bench.
Blake Griffin netted 19 points and DeAndre Jordan registered 12 points and 17
boards for Los Angeles, which is 10-11 away from home and shot just 39.8
percent from the field.
"We didn't play well at all. Their defense really rushed us. We talked about
how they get you to challenge their bigs and we kept falling for it over and
over again," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers.
Clippers guard J.J. Redick is probable for Monday with a sore knee and had
eight points against the Pacers. Redick has 20 points over his last two games
after dropping a career-high 33 points on Dallas last Wednesday.
Detroit has won three of its last four games and posted a 104-98 victory at
Washington on Saturday thanks to Josh Smith, who scored 20 of his 22 points in
the decisive second half.
Rodney Stuckey scored 20 points off the bench, Greg Monroe added 12 points to
go with 10 rebounds and Andre Drummond chipped in 10 points and 13 boards for
the Pistons, who made 49.4 percent from the floor and netted 22 points off 19
"We wanted to be able to come in and give as much energy as possible," said
Smith. "They have been winning as of late. We wanted to come in here and match
The Pistons will try to work on their 7-13 mark at The Palace and lost both
meetings with the Clippers last season. The Clippers have won four in a row
and six of the last seven matchups with Detroit, but are only 4-15 in the
previous 19 visits to Auburn Hills.
