Milwaukee Bucks (12-48) at New Orleans Pelicans (24-37), 8 p.m.
(SportsNetwork.com) - The New Orleans Pelicans halted a long losing streak
last time out and will try for consecutive victories Friday night when they
welcome the Milwaukee Bucks to the Smoothie King Center.
The Pelicans dropped eight in a row but salvaged a win on a five-game road
trip with a 132-125 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, a nice way
for the New Orleans faithful to celebrate Mardi Gras.
Anthony Davis scored 28 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to help the
Pelicans. Eric Gordon scored 28 points and Tyreke Evans finished with 24
points, seven rebounds and 11 assists for Pelicans, who return to the Big Easy
for six in a row.
"It almost got away from us early in the fourth quarter, but it just feels
good to win a game after all that we've been through," said New Orleans head
coach Monty Williams. "Our guys deserve a lot of credit for their ability to
stay in there and hang in there and not give in and try to get a win before we
go back home."
New Orleans has only lost two straight at home and will welcome the Denver
Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics and Toronto
Raptors to town on this stay.
The Bucks' bid for consecutive wins for the first time all season was thwarted
on Wednesday when they fell to the Sacramento Kings at home, 116-102. They had
beaten the Utah Jazz on Monday.
Against the Kings, Brandon Knight scored 25 points to go with five rebounds
and six assists and Jeff Adrien scored a career-high 15 for the Bucks, losers
in three of their last four games.
Knight has scored 20-plus in 20 games this season, which matched his personal
best from last season. He extended his career-best streak to 15 consecutive
games scoring in double figures.
Khris Middleton was the only other Buck in double figures with 11.
"You have to be consistent," said Zaza Pachulia. "Consistency is very
important in this league, especially for a young team like us. We had a lot of
The Bucks signed Tony Mitchell to a 10-day contract and he scored two points
in his NBA debut against Sacramento.
The Pelicans have won five of six against the Bucks, including a win in
Milwaukee on Feb. 12. The Bucks have lost 11 straight as the visitor in this
series and have only one victory in New Orleans since the team moved there
prior to the 2002-03 season.
