Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Brandon Jennings scored 35 points with six
rebounds and six assists as the Milwaukee Bucks took a 104-96 win over the
Chicago Bulls at United Center on Wednesday.
Mike Dunleavy scored 16 points and Monta Ellis added 14 points, five boards,
five steals and five helpers for the Bucks, who have won their past two games.
Larry Sanders had 12 rebounds and seven blocks as Milwaukee moved to 2-0 under
interim head coach Jim Boylan thanks in part to 15 blocked shots in the game.
"It's Chicago, it's a division rival so this is a huge win for us," said
Boylan. "This gives us a series edge right now and those are important down
Carlos Boozer had 22 points and 11 boards while Nate Robinson added 19 points,
five rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Bulls, who had a three-
game winning streak snapped.
"We had a good edge to start the game then we started trading buckets," said
Chicago head coach Tom Thibodeau. "They picked up steam and started causing
turnovers and those 15 blocked shots were big."
A 5-0 run from Chicago got the team to one point back after Jimmy Butler made
it a 90-89 game with 6 1/2 minutes to play.
After an exchange of baskets, Dunleavy hit a 3-pointer and, after Butler hit
two from the line, Dunleavy drained another 3-ball for a 98-93 lead with 2:41
A bit later, Boozer hit 1-of-2 free throws for a 100-96 game, but Marco
Belinelli had a pair of shots blocked and Jennings' jumper with 24.6 seconds
remaining put the game away.
Chicago started the game hot as the team ripped off a 16-3 run in the first
quarter and the team took a 33-23 lead into the second quarter.
The Bulls led throughout the second quarter, at one point held an 11-point
advantage, before taking a 57-50 edge into the halftime break.
An 11-3 run to start the third allowed the Bucks to go back on top and another
8-0 run a bit later gave the team some more room. Chicago, though, closed the
frame with a 9-2 run to cut their deficit to 81-80 after 36 minutes.
Milwaukee hosts Detroit on Friday ... Chicago plays in New York on Friday ...
Milwaukee has won two of the three meetings with Chicago this season ... The
Bucks made 46.4 percent of their shots while the Bulls connected on just 41.1.
