(SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks will try to get back on track Wednesday night when they welcome the Detroit Pistons to Philips Arena.
The Hawks have dropped two of their last three, but the opponents were among the very best the NBA has to offer. Atlanta fell at home to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday and lost in Oklahoma City to the Thunder on Monday. In between, the Hawks sandwiched a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
The OKC loss was a heart-breaker as the Hawks became the latest victim of Kevin Durant. The presumptive favorite for MVP tallied 41 points and hit the go-ahead jumper with 1.5 seconds left to give the Thunder a 111-109 victory.
Paul Millsap registered 23 points and eight rebounds for Atlanta, which has dropped two of its last three tilts.
"Our group really competed tonight," Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer said. "I think their commitment to each other and their commitment to playing the way we want to play is excellent."
Six other Atlanta players scored in double figures against Oklahoma City. Mike Scott (16), DeMarre Carroll (15), Shelvin Mack (15), Kyle Korver (14), Lou Williams (10) and Dennis Schroeder (10) joined Millsap in a fine offensive performance. Korver extended his NBA record for consecutive games with a made 3-pointer to 113.
Jeff Teague missed the OKC game with a sprained left ankle and is out Wednesday.
The Pistons snapped a four-game losing streak Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic at The Palace of Auburn Hills. They've still lost two in a row on the road.
On Tuesday, Brandon Jennings scored 20 points with eight assists to lead the Pistons to a 103-87 win .
Josh Smith contributed 16 points, Andre Drummond deposited 13 points with 17 rebounds, and Rodney Stuckey added 13 points off the bench for Detroit. Kyle Singler scored 12 points in a reserve role for the Pistons.
It was an important night for Drummond, who managed only four points in Sunday's loss at Dallas.
"I told him at shootaround that he's human," head coach Maurice Cheeks said of his young center. "He's entitled to have a bad game. It's important to see how you bounce back."
The Pistons play six of their next eight at home.
The Hawks have won both meetings with Detroit this season, including one in Atlanta. The Hawks have owned Detroit as the host, winning 10 straight and 12 of 14 against them at Philips Arena.
