(Sports Network) - The weather isn't always great in December, but the Los Angeles Clippers have enjoyed a red-hot month.
The Clippers aim to become just the third team in NBA history to post a 16-0 month as they wrap a home-and-home series with the Utah Jazz.
The Clippers pushed their franchise-record winning streak to 16 games in a row with Friday's 116-114 win at Utah. It marked the first time in eight games that the Clippers did not win by double digits as the club put together an impressive rally from 19 down in the third quarter.
Chris Paul scored 29 points, including the deciding free throws in the closing seconds, to extend a win streak that began on Nov. 28, two days after a loss to New Orleans.
"It was a good test. It is always a test for us and at times we didn't play our best basketball by getting beat in the open court. Those are things we usually do to teams," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. "Give Utah credit, but our guys battled back tonight. They found a way to win and that's what it is all about."
Blake Griffin added 22 points and 13 rebounds, while DeAndre Jordan also contributed a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards for the Clippers, who are on the league's longest winning streak since the Boston Celtics won 19 in a row during the 2008-09 campaign.
A sweep of this home-and-home would join the Clippers with the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers and 1995-96 San Antonio Spurs as the only teams in NBA history to post 16-0 months.
Randy Foye scored a season-high 28 points to pace the Jazz, but his tightly contested 3-pointer as time expired rimmed out to hand Utah its sixth loss in eight games.
"We made some mistakes, but we fought our way through it and had a chance to win the ball game at the end. Unfortunately, they got a lot of free throws," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said.
Al Jefferson finished with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Gordon Hayward dropped in 17 points off the bench in a losing effort.
Still without point guard Mo Williams due to a sprained right thumb, Utah grab an early advantage thanks to a 36-point second quarter.
However, the Jazz lost their fourth straight to the Clippers and third in a row at home in this series.
Utah has won four of its past six on the road versus Los Angeles.
