Description: Rays catcher Jose Molina is expected to rejoin the team Friday against Minnesota. SOURCE: Roger Mooney, Tampa Tribune
Insight: Molina (.242, 2 HR, 17 RBI) has been attending to a family matter. If you're going to own one of the Molina brothers in fantasy, Yadier is the far better choice (.318, 11 HR, 65 RBI in 120 games) .

8/24/2013 12:01:00 PM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina is hitless in 16 at-bats versus Yankees left-hander C.C. Sabathia and likely won't get the Saturday start.
Insight: Molina isn't much of an offensive threat to begin with (.241, .612 OPS) so his lack of success against Sabathia shouldn't change many lineups. Backup Jose Lobaton homered on Friday night and has a better chance against the big lefty.

6/22/2013 10:00:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina is hitless in 16 at-bats versus Yankees left-hander C.C. Sabathia.
Insight: Molina isn't much of an offensive threat to begin with (.262, .626 OPS) so his lack of success against Sabathia shouldn't change many lineups. Backup Jose Lobaton is 3-for-8 against Sabathia and is likely to get the start.

Cold5/20/2013 10:01:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina is hitless in eight at-bats versus Toronto knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
Insight: Molina isn't much of an offensive threat to begin with (.221, .590 OPS) so his lack of success against Dickey shouldn't change many lineups. He's representative of the Rays' team lack of success against Dickey. Only one player on the roster has a batting average above .200 against Dickey (Kelly Johnson - .286).

Cold5/14/2013 11:20:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina is hitless in 10 at-bats versus Boston starter John Lackey.
Insight: Molina isn't much of an offensive threat to begin with (.159, .445 OPS) so his lack of success against lackey shouldn't change many lineups.

5/10/2013 10:08:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina has three extra base hits, including a pair of home runs, in six at-bats versus Padres starter Edinson Volquez.
Insight: Molina has been struggling at the plate, going hitless in his last six games, so it would take a leap of faith to put him in a fantasy lineup for Friday based on such a small sample size.

7/29/2012 2:52:00 PM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina won't be on the field Sunday against the Angels.
Insight: Jose Lobaton (.231, 1 HR, 12 RBIs) will be handling the action behind the plate for the Rays on Sunday.

7/29/2012 11:43:00 AM
Description: Fantasy owners are doomed if they're thinking about starting Rays catcher Jose Molina on Sunday. Molina is a miserable 1-for-13 (.077) for his career against newly-acquired Angels starter Zack Greinke.
Insight: There wasn't much incentinve to start Molina (.186, 4 HRs, 16 RBIs) in fantasy anyway. Now there should be even less.

6/28/2012 6:14:00 PM
Description: Rays catcher Jose Molina will take a seat for Thursday night's game against Detroit.
Insight: Molina (.200, 4 HRs, 13 RBIs) has been quiet offensively for much of the 2012 campaign but he's hitting .294 over his last five starts with a couple of homers and three RBIs.

6/17/2012 1:31:00 PM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina is not in the Rays' lineup on Sunday.
Insight: Molina (.196, 3 HRs, 12 RBIs) caught 12 innings Saturday in Tampa Bay's extra innings loss to the Marlins. Jose Lobaton (.231, 0 HRs, 3 RBIs) will make his 11th start of the season behind the plate on Sunday.

5/21/2012 7:13:00 PM
Description: Despite leaving the game with a head injury Sunday against Atlanta, Jose Molina is back behind the plate and starting Monday night's game versus Toronto.
Insight: Molina has been unimpressive at the plate this season (.181, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs) and is owned in less than one percent of fantasy leagues.

5/20/2012 4:31:00 PM
Description: Jose Molina exited Sunday's game against Atlanta in the sixth inning after a foul ball deflected off his mask. He's being listed as day-to-day.
Insight: Molina (.181, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs in 28 games) has seen the majority of the playing time at catcher this season in Tampa Bay but if he has to miss any games, Chris Gimenez (.218, 0 HRs, 2 RBIs in 20 games) would be the most likely candidate to replace him. The Rays are saying his removal from the game was precautionary so it doesn't look like Molina will be out of commission for too long, if at all.

4/6/2012 9:48:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay starting catcher Jose Molina has never gotten a hit off the Yankees expected starter C.C. Sabathia in 14 tries.
Insight: If you look the definition of "owning a hitter" in the dictionary, you might see this as the ideal example. Surely there must be a better option for you to start at the catching spot.

3/26/2011 5:04:00 PM
Description: Molina is expected to catch Kyle Drabek and Jo-Jo Reyes's turns in the rotation.
Insight: Such duty would give Molina about 60 games over the course of the season, which falls right in the range of three of his past four years. Of course, Molina has hit .246, .216 and .217 the past three seasons, with a grand total of 10 homers. He might help the Jays' young pitchers, but he won't help anyone's fantasy team. 3/21/2011 5:36:00 AM
Description: The Jays plan on having Jose Molina catch for Brandon Morrow and Kyle Drabek. SOURCE: TORONTO SUN
Insight: If they stick with this plan it would limit J.P. Arencibia to about 100 starts. That would limit his power potential but would overall be a good thing for him since he wouldn't get too tired and he wouldn't kill your batting average.

2/21/2010 7:55:00 AM
Description: The Blue Jays signed Molina to a one-year, $400,000 contract.
Insight: Molina will be the primary backup to John Buck and has little fantasy value. (SportsBuff.com)

2/18/2010 8:31:00 AM
Description: MLB.com reports that the Rangers have interest in signing Molina.
Insight: Molina hit only .217 with one home run and 11 RBI last season with the Yankees. (SportsBuff.com)
