Description: Royals catcher Erik Kratz hit two home runs after entering as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning against the Twins on Monday night. The catcher homered in his only two plate appearances.
Insight: Both of Kratz' home runs were solo shots. The second came in the ninth to extend the Royal lead to 6-1. It was the first time Kratz had hit a home run for the Royals since joining the team on July 28 in a trade from the Blue Jays. The catcher has five home runs in 94 at-bats with the Kansas City and Toronto this season.

Description: Blue Jays backup catcher Erik Kratz will get a chance to start on Saturday against Cincinnati.
Insight: Kratz will give Dioner Navarro the day off and could be a viable one-day option as he's 3-for-5 with two homers against Reds starter Mike Leake.

Description: Phillies catcher Erik Kratz has been moved to the disabled list.
Insight: Kratz is out with a left knee injury and it sounds like he could be on the shelf for a while. Carlos Ruiz is also hurt, which leaves Humberto Quintero as the starting catcher. The Phillies called up Steven Lerud from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to serve as Quintero's backup.

Description: Philadelphia catcher Erik Kratz hurt his knee Saturday versus the Brewers. SOURCE: Jim Salisbury, Comcast Philadelphia
Insight: Kratz said he heard a "pop," which is never a good sign. If the injury ends up bering serious, Humberto Quintero (.241, 0 HR, 2 RBI) will be the Phillies' best option behind the plate.

4/17/2013 10:34:00 AM
Description: Phillies catcher Erik Kratz should be in the starting lineup against Red starter Mike Leake as he's faced him three times and produced two homers and a single.
Insight: Kratz was given Tuesday night off, so should be back in the starting lineup and he's worth a one-time shot in this favorable matchup.

9/3/2012 11:37:00 AM
Description: Phillies catcher Erik Kratz is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Cincinnati. No injury, just a day of rest.
Insight: Kratz has been a solid replacement for Phillies All-Star catcher Carlos Ruiz, batting .287 with eight homers and 21 RBI in 36 games.
