Miami Marlins (39-39) at Philadelphia Phillies (35-43), 7:05 p.m.
Probable Starting Pitchers: Miami - Tom Koehler (5-6, 3.74) Philadelphia - Cole Hamels (2-4, 2.76)
(SportsNetwork.com) - Cole Hamels tries to post his first home win in nearly six weeks when the Philadelphia Phillies close a four-game series against the Miami Marlins on Thursday.
The left-hander, who is 0-1 over his last three overall starts, last won a game at Citizens Bank Park May 11 against Cincinnati. Since then, he is 0-1 over a three-start span.
Hamels is 9-12 with a 3.18 ERA in 30 career games against the Marlins.
Tom Koehler toes the rubber for the Marlins. The right-hander, who turns 28 on Sunday, is coming off a loss to the Mets. He allowed four hits and a pair of runs over seven innings of a 4-0 defeat on Saturday. He is 2-0 over his last three road starts.
Koehler is 0-1 with an 8.22 ERA in three games (1 start) against the Phillies.
Last night, Henderson Alvarez tossed an impressive 6 2/3 innings to guide Miami to a 3-2 win. Alvarez (5-3), who hasn't lost an outing since May 11 at San Diego, allowed two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and two walks to pick up his first road win in his last nine starts, dating back to Sept. 14, 2013 at Citi Field.
"I thought he pitched very well," said Marlins manager Mike Redmond. "He battled and made some pitches when he needed to."
Jarrod Saltalamacchia drove in two and Marcell Ozuna had an RBI and scored a run for the Marlins, who lost three of four coming into the game.
Coming off his 24th career complete game, A.J. Burnett (5-7) yielded three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts over seven innings to absorb the loss.
"He pitched very well," said Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg. "He had good enough stuff to pitch a shutout tonight."
Marlon Byrd finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Chase Utley and Domonic Brown each recorded an RBI for the Phillies, who have lost four of their last five.
Philadelphia leads the season series, 5-4. The Phillies have beaten the Marlins nine of 12 and 14 of the last 19 times the teams have played at Citizens Bank Park. That includes a three-game sweep from April 11-13.
