Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets placed outfielder Juan Lagares on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a right intercostal strain.
Lagares has been battling the injury for a few days. He was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Phillies due to the ailment, then left Sunday's game in Philadelphia with the injury and was sent back to New York for an MRI exam.
In 42 games this season, Lagares is batting .288 with two homers and 18 RBI.
New York recalled outfielder Matt den Dekker from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace Lagares on the roster.
