Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to terms with reliever Manny Parra on a two-year contract, MLB.com confirmed on Wednesday.
Parra, a key member of the Cincinnati bullpen last season, will reportedly earn $2 million in 2014 and $3.5 million in 2015. The Reds have yet to officially announce the signing.
The 31-year-old lefty pitched in 57 games out of the bullpen for Cincinnati in 2013, recording a 2-3 record with a 3.33 earned run average and posting 56 strikeouts over 46 innings. He was particularly effective from mid-June on, producing a 1.78 ERA over his final 45 appearances while limiting left-handed hitters to a .167 average.
Parra signed a one-year deal with the Reds in February after being non- tendered by the Milwaukee Brewers that offseason. Over 229 career games, 74 of which have come as a starter, the California native has gone 28-36 with a 4.97 ERA.
The move is the third notable free-agent signing by Cincinnati this offseason, with the club previously adding catcher Brayan Pena and utilityman Skip Schumaker on two-year contracts.
