Lester finally elite
Boston Red Sox starter Jon Lester has 110 career wins, a no-hitter and 2.11 ERA in 76 2/3 playoff innings, but he's never been an elite fantasy pitcher. Until now. Full Story | Player Stats: Jon Lester

Curtis Granderson, RF, NYM 7/23/2014 1:52:00 PM
Description: Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson (illness) is out of the lineup Wednesday. Insight: Granderson also sat out Tuesday due to an illness. He\'s gone 1-for-12 with seven Ks over his last three games and is batting .250 with three homers and a .757 OPS in July.
Erasmo Ramirez, SP, SEA 7/23/2014 12:46:00 PM
Description: Mariners right-hander Erasmo Ramirez made a strong bid to keep the fifth spot in the rotation with 10 Ks over seven innings (5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB) Tuesday against the Mets. Insight: Ramirez has posted a 1.33 ERA in 27 innings over his last five starts, but he\'s walked 18 batters during that span. Taijuan Walker, who will start Wednesday, is also an option for the No. 5 spot. However, James Paxton is expected to return in early August so both Walker and Ramirez could be out of luck.

Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN7/23/2014 1:39:00 PM
Description: According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles will not report to training camp Wednesday unless there\'s an unexpected breakthrough in contract negotiations. Insight: Charles wants a new deal and he deserves one. He led the Chiefs in carries, targets and receptions last season and accounted for 1,980 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns. He\'s scheduled to make just $3.9 million this season and $6 million in 2015. His holdout shouldn\'t last long, as Kansas City seems to be open to giving him a new contract.
Reggie Wayne, WR, IND7/23/2014 1:36:00 PM
Description: Colts receiver Reggie Wayne (knee) said he\'s been cleared for training camp, according to colts.com. Insight: Wayne tore his ACL last October. The 35-year-old is a WR3 at best due to his age and lack of touchdowns the past three years (11 TDs in 39 games). He\'s being drafted in the eighth round.

Manu Ginobili, SG, SAN7/22/2014 11:10:00 AM
Description: Spurs guard Manu Ginobili (stress fracture in his right leg) says he no longer feels any pain, according to an interview he gave to Argentine website Canchallena.LaNacion.com. Insight: Ginobili would like to play for his country in the 2014 FIBA World Cup, but only if healthy and free of pain. We expect Spurs coach Gregg Popovich hopes he bypasses the games and rests for the upcoming season.
 Carlos Boozer, F, LAL7/18/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: Carlos Boozer will play for the Los Angeles Lakers next season. Insight: Boozer was cut from the Chicago Bulls via the amnesty provision earlier this week and Los Angeles won a blind auction to claim him. Boozer started 76 games last season and played 28.2 minutes per game, but he\'ll have to battle Julius Randle, Jordan Hill and Ed Davis for playing time in 2014-15.

Tyler Ennis, LW, BUF7/17/2014 3:34:00 PM
Description: The Sabres have signed Tyler Ennis to a multiyear contract extension. Insight: The 24-year-old had a career-high 21 goals and added 22 assists and 210 SOG over 80 games in 2013-14. The talent is lacking in Buffalo so he likely won\'t be much better than that in 2014-15.
 Jonathan Toews, C, CHI7/9/2014 1:26:00 PM
Description: The Blackhawks have signed Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane to matching eight-year, $84 million extensions. Insight: Toews is one of the top two-way players in the NHL. He had 68 points (28 goals) in 76 regular season games and 17 points (nine goals) in 19 postseason games this past season.
