Vikings place TE Carlson on injured reserve
Eden Prairie, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Vikings ended the season of John Carlson Saturday, placing the concussed tight end on injured reserve.
Carlson, who signed a five-year deal with Minnesota in March of 2012, suffered his latest head injury -- his third concussion in the last three seasons -- two weeks ago against Baltimore and did not suit up for last Sunday's 48-30 win over Philadelphia after failing to pass NFL concussion protocol.
Reports from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune earlier in the week said Carlson is considering whether or not to continue playing football.
A Notre Dame product, Carlson ends his 2013 campaign with 32 catches for 344 yards and one touchdown.
The six-year veteran has totaled 177 career receptions for 1,906 yards and 14 TDs.
Minnesota also waived cornerback Robert Steeples while signing running back Joe Banyard and defensive end Justin Trattou to the active roster.
