Rangers edge Twins, snap eight-game skid

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Tepesch tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings and the Texas Rangers survived a ninth-inning rally from the Minnesota Twins to win 5-4, ending their eight-game losing streak in the opener of a three-game set on Friday.

Tepesch (3-3) allowed just three hits and a pair of walks while fanning five to pick up his first win since May 26.

Adrian Beltre crushed a two-run shot and Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Rangers, who snapped their longest skid since Aug. 2005.

Kevin Correia (4-9) yielded four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings to absorb the loss.

Oswaldo Arcia and Eduardo Escobar each drove in a run for the Twins, who have lost four straight and nine consecutive road games.
