Stanton is Worthy of Your Attention

Mike Stanton's OPS has increased dramatically each month.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Apparently, the word hasn't reached all four corners of the United States, so let me take this opportunity to help out some of the fantasy owners who haven't gotten the word yet - Florida Marlins outfielder Mike Stanton is a star in the making.

Brought up on June 8th, over two months ago, Stanton is still only owned in 45% of all leagues. And that number is just way, way too low.

Stanton, who was the 12th-ranked minor league prospect by Minor League Baseball Analyst, has put together a "monster" week. Over the past seven days, he's batting .583 with five runs scored, four HR and eight RBI.

In the 50-plus games he's played in the majors, he's hitting .275 with 14 homers, 39 RBI, and four stolen bases. Stanton's one weakness is going outside the strike zone too often as seen by his 70 strikeouts in 204 at-bats, but his results are still too solid to ignore.

Once you get him, start him in all road games. He's actually been much better away from LandShark Stadium, batting .345 with nine homers, 25 RBIs and an OPS of 1.143 versus a .187 batting average and .634 OPS at home.

Stanton's OPS has increased dramatically each month, from .635 in June, to .906 in July and a stunning 1.396 in August.

If you just lost Nelson Cruz (hamstring) to the disabled list, again, then your No.1 move is picking up Stanton.

And if you are in a keeper league and Stanton is still available then what are you waiting for? He should be a mainstay of your team for years to come.

June 74 10 17 2 13 3 0.230 0.635
July 86 13 20 7 17 0 0.233 0.906
August 44 6 19 5 9 1 0.432 1.396
