Description: Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Tuesday that the chances of Giancarlo Stanton returning this season are "not looking good" according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

The outfielder suffered multiple facial fractures and lacerations requiring more than 20 stitches, as well as losing multiple teeth after taking a pitch in the face against Brewers starter Mike Fiers last Thursday. Description: Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez could be in for a long night on Tuesday.

Description: Mets outfielder Eric Young Jr. given the night off on Monday.

While he won't give you much power, Span has really picked it up on the base path after the All-Star break, as he has stolen 16 bases in the last 54 games (15 SB through the first 84 games). Insight: Gomez has been battling injuries lately, but his season numbers are still very good with a .287 batting average, 21 HR, 68 RBI, 88 runs and an .839 OPS. He's on a five-game hitting streal and should be a must start on Friday.
Dayan Viciedo, RF, CWS9/12/2014 1:32:00 PM

Marlon Byrd, RF, PHI9/12/2014 12:28:00 PM
Description: Phillies right fielder Marlon Byrd is a career .538 hitter (7-for-13) against Miami starter Henderson Alvarez.
Insight: He is hitting .265 with 25 home runs and 78 RBI this season and is one of the few Phillies playing up to expectations this year. He's worth a shot even though only one of the seven hits was for extra bases.
Nelson Cruz, LF, BAL9/12/2014 12:26:00 PM
Description: Orioles left fielder Nelson Cruz is just a .158 hitter (3-for-19) against Yankees right-hander Brandon McCarthy.
Insight: Cruz is on a modest five game hitting streak which included a teo-homer, seven RBI day last Saturday. Considering the modest expectations at the beginning of the season after the suspension, he production has been outstanding (39 HR, 101 RBI, .860 OPS). This matchup, however, is a tough one for the slugger.
Brett Gardner, LF, NYY9/12/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner is doubtful due to lower abdominal pain.
Insight: Gardner is hoping to return by Saturday, according to a New York Daily News report.. Gardner is hitting .269/.342/.442 with 16 home runs , 56 RBI, 81 runs and 19 stolen bases this season.

Insight: Stanton leads the NL in homers (37), RBI (105) slugging (.555), OPS (.950) and total bases (299). There is no player who can replace those numbers.

Description: Brewers outfielder Khris Davis is not in the lineup Thursday due to a sore right forearm.
Insight: Davis should be back on Friday. Gerardo Parra is in left field on Thursday.

Josh Hamilton, LF, ANA9/11/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton is not in the lineup on Thursday. UPDATE: Hamilton has been ruled out through the weekend.
Insight: Hamilton is missing his sixth straight game. He has been dealing with discomfort around his shoulder and neck since late August. With the healthy division lead, the Angels won't rush him back.
Alex Gordon, LF, KANCold9/11/2014 1:13:00 PM
Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon is a career .455 hitter (5-for-11) against Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Gordon has also taken Buchholz deep once in his career. The left fielder is hitless in his last 13 at-bats so perhaps this matchup will get Gordon going again. He leads Kansas City with 19 home runs and 66 RBI.
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, NYY9/11/2014 1:07:00 PM
Description: Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is 3-for-16 (.188) with a solo home run against Rays starter Alex Cobb.
Insight: Cobb has arguably been the best pitcher in baseball, along with Clayton Kershaw, after the All-Star break. It would be unwise to start any Yankee, besides maybe Michael Pineda, on Thursday.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT9/11/2014 12:44:00 PM
Description: Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a walk and an inside-the-park home run as the Pirates defeated the Phillies, 6-3, on Wednesday.
Insight: After a brief cold streak after returning from his rib injury, McCutchen is a legitimate contender for the National League batting title again. He is hitting .311, which is only behind Justin Morneau (.317) and teammate Josh Harrison (.318). The home run was the center fielder's 23rd of the season. He also has 77 runs, 75 RBI and 17 stolen bases.

Carl Crawford, LF, LOSHot9/11/2014 12:17:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford went 4-for-4, including three doubles on Wednesday and finished the series against the Padres, 9-for-12.

Last weekend, however, he went 6-for-12 in a series against Washington. Crawford is batting .289 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 309 at-bats this season.
Craig Gentry, OF, OAK9/10/2014 6:36:00 PM
Description: Athletics center fielder Craig Gentry is likely out for a few days after a collision at first base left him with a concussion.
Insight: Gentry is not much of a fantasy asset, though he does have 20 steals in 232 at-bats. But with it comes no power and a .254 batting average.
Ryan Braun, RF, MIL9/10/2014 4:55:00 PM
Description: Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.
Insight: Braun's thumb was bothering him and he didn't start Monday either, but did pinch hit. He is hitting .272 with 18 home runs and 78 RBI on the season.

Rajai Davis, CF, DET9/10/2014 3:36:00 PM
Description: Tigers center fielder Rajai Davis is not in Wednesday's starting lineup versus James Shields and the Royals.
Insight: This isn't unexpected as Davis is just 2-for-18 (.111) against Shields. Don Kelley will get the start in center field.
Marlon Byrd, RF, PHI9/10/2014 2:51:00 PM
Description: Phillies right fielder Marlon Byrd is not in Wednesday's starting lineup.
Insight: Merely a regular off day for the Phillies right fielder. He is hitting .265 with 25 home runs and 78 RBI this season. Grady Sizemore will make the start in right, but with his .248 batting average and .691 OPS doesn't have much fantasy value.
Billy Hamilton, CF, CIN9/10/2014 2:48:00 PM
Description: Cincinnati center fielder Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds lineup on Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Insight: Just a routine day off for Hamilton. Chris Heisey will get the start. Hamilton has been good this season, batting .260 with six homers, 46 RBI, 72 runs and 55 steals.
Giancarlo Stanton, RF, MIA9/10/2014 10:11:00 AM
Description: Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton is 0-for-9 with four strikeouts against Brewers right-hander Wily Peralta.
Insight: Stanton leads the NL in homers (37), RBI (105) slugging (.556) and OPS (.951). It's tough to sit the NL MVP candidate, but owners should be aware that this is not an ideal matchup for Stanton.
Leonys Martin, CF, TEX9/10/2014 10:07:00 AM
Description: Angels starter Matt Shoemaker has pitched well this season, but one guy he hasn't figured how to get out is Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin.
Insight: Martin is 5-for-7 (.714) with a pair of doubles against Shoemaker. Martin should post a second consecutive 30-plus stolen base season and is batting a respectable .279, but until he bats higher in the lineup his runs and RBI totals will fall a bit short.
Jason Heyward, RF, ATL9/10/2014 9:53:00 AM
Description: Braves right fielder Jason Heyward is a career .429 hitter (12-for-28) against Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg.

Bryce Harper, LF, WAS9/10/2014 9:36:00 AM
Description: Nationals left fielder Bryce Harper is a career .6-for-11 (.545) against Braves starter Aaron Harang,
Insight: So much talent, so little production. The left fielder still isn't living up to expectations hitting .267 with 11 home runs and 29 RBI in 300 at-bats. Remember a couple of years ago when people were asking which player was better ... Mike Trout or Harper? Seems funny now.
Oswaldo Arcia, RF, MINHot9/9/2014 10:44:00 PM
Description: Twins right fielder Oswaldo Arcia went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning as the Twins beat the Indians, 4-3, on Tuesday.
Insight: Arcia's home run capped off a four-run fourth inning for the Twins, who then held on to win. Arcia does not hit for much of an average .220/.293/.439, but he does occasionally hit a long ball. He has 16 homers and 48 RBI on the year.
Justin Upton, LF, ATL9/9/2014 10:32:00 PM
Description: Braves left fielder Justin Upton hit a two-run home run, going 1-for-4, against the Nationals on Tuesday night.

He also has eight RBI over that stretch. On the season, Granderson is hitting .218 with 18 home runs and 57 RBI.
Jay Bruce, RF, CINCold9/9/2014 3:27:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is hitless in 11 career at-bats, with seven strikeouts, against right-hander Michael Wacha.
Insight: The streaky hitter is in one of his typical cold spells (15-for-89) and this matchup doesn't figure to help him get out of it. UpdateL Bruce is not in the starting lineup.
Hunter Pence, RF, SFG9/9/2014 12:14:00 PM
Description: Giants right fielder Hunter Pence is just 2-for-18 (.111) against Diamondbacks left-hander Wade Miley.
Insight: Pence had a huge month of August (.314, .907 OPS), but has cooled a bit in September and faces a tough matchup. It's probably best to avoid him Tuesday.
Yasiel Puig, CF, LOSCold9/9/2014 12:09:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is just 1-for-11 versus Padres right-hander Andrew Cashner.
Insight: Puig hasn't been hitting up to previous standards, batting just .203 over the past month with an ugly .552 OPS. If he keeps this up, he'll be just one of the many outfielders Don Mattingly has to decide to start each day and not a fantasy stud.
Dustin Ackley, LF, SEA9/9/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Mariners left fielder Dustin Ackley was out of the Mariners' lineup Monday against the Astros and is questionable for Tuesday's game.
Insight: Ackley (.251, 11 HR, 60 RBI, 60 runs) left Saturday's game with a left ankle injury and did not return. He has not played since then. Given that he's 0-for-7 with five strikeouts against scheduled starter Collin McHugh, I'd expect he'll get another day off.
Kole Calhoun, RF, ANAHot9/9/2014 12:03:00 PM
Description: Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun is 5-for-7 (.714) with three extra-base hits versus Texas right-hander Colby Lewis.

Jose Bautista, RF, TOR9/9/2014 11:51:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is hitless in 10 career at-bats against Cubs ace Jake Arrieta.
Insight: Bautista is on fire this month, batting .367 with three homers and a 1.106 OPS so it will be interesting to see which factor wins out. For the season Bautista has blasted 32 homer and knocked in 92 runs.
Matt Joyce, RF, TAM9/9/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Rays OF/DH Matt Joyce has a career .391 batting average (9-for-23) with three solo home runs against Yankees right-hander Hiroki Kuroda.
Insight: Joyce hasn't been swinging well of late, going 1-for-16 over the past five days, so may not be able to take advantage of the favorable matchup.
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, NYY9/9/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is 8-for-12 (.667) and has stolen three bases off Rays right-hander Chris Archer.

Cameron Maybin, CF, SDP9/8/2014 12:26:00 PM
Description: Padres center fielder Cameron Maybin is a career .095 (2-for-21) hitter against Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw.
Insight: A bad average against Kershaw is really a surprise but .095 is a whole new level of poor. Don't start Maybin on Monday.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT9/8/2014 12:12:00 PM
Description: Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen hits just .231 (3-for-13) against Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick.
Insight: That is basically irrelavant though because McCutchen is 3-for-5 in each of his last two games with two RBI and a home run. He should stay in your lineup, but fantasy owners should be aware that McCutchen has not had much success against Kendrick in the past.
