Lions release WR Jackson

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - The British Columbia Lions released wide receiver Paris Jackson on Friday.

Jackson, who has spent his entire 11-year CFL career with the Leos, was cut loose after posting just 10 receptions for 97 yards in 2013.

"Paris has requested his release to pursue a more significant playing role on another CFL club," said Lions VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono. "The BC Lions thank him for his many contributions to our organization on and off the field and wish him the very best."

Since arriving in Vancouver from the University of Utah in 2003, Jackson compiled 5,757 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns on 420 catches in 185 regular-season games.

In addition, TSN of Canada reported that the club has signed cornerback Dante Marsh to a contract extension.

Marsh completed his 10th campaign with British Columbia by recording 73 tackles and three interceptions with one returned for a touchdown along with a fumble recovery.

The native of Oakland and Fresno State product has picked up 556 tackles, 29 interceptions (three for TDs), seven fumble recoveries and one sack.
