Final Score: Calgary 10, Hamilton 7
Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Rene Paredes booted a 39-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter to boost Calgary to a 10-7 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium.
Brad Sinopoli scored on a 26-yard run in the second quarter for the Stampeders (3-0), who remain one of two unbeaten teams in the league.
Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell (6-0 as a starter for Calgary) completed 20-of-35 passes for 201 yards in the winning effort, one week after tossing four touchdown passes in a victory over Toronto.
Hamilton's attempt to tie the game failed with less than two minutes left when the snap on a field goal try was bobbled.
Quarterback Dan LeFevour couldn't move the Tiger-Cats (0-3) into field goal range before time expired.
Jeremiah Masoli started under center for Hamilton, but was replaced by LeFevour late in the third quarter. The two quarterbacks played in place of the injured Zach Collaros, who left last week's game due to a blow to the head.
Offense was an issue for the Tiger-Cats, who racked up 254 yards total in the game. Brandon Banks was the leading rusher for Hamilton with 28 yards on just one carry. Masoli completed 9-of-20 for 107 yards with an interception before he was pulled for LeFevour, who ended 9-of-11 for 76 yards.
Andy Fantuz caught seven passes for 59 yards to pace Hamilton, while Jeff Fuller topped Calgary with 56 yards on four catches.
Hamilton got the scoring started right away by notching a single on the opening kickoff. And then, with 2:05 left in the first quarter, Medlock converted a 42-yard field goal.
Sinopoli's touchdown in the second quarter was the last score until Medlock hammered home a 29-yard field goal with 2:48 left in the third to knot the score at 7-7.
Paredes gave the Stamps the lead with 6:44 remaining.
Hamilton took control of the ball with 25 seconds left to play on its own 17 yard line, but LeFevour was sacked, and Fantuz fumbled after making a last- second catch that sealed the outcome.
Hamilton is the last remaining winless team in the league, just months removed from a Grey Cup appearance.
Calgary and Hamilton each were flagged for 12 penalties apiece - Calgary for 120 yards and Hamilton 90 ... Medlock missed a field goal attempt early in the third quarter - his first miss of the season ...Calgary's league-low scoring defense (11.5 ppg coming in) has now allowed 30 combined points in three games played.
