Steelers tender offers to four free agents Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have tendered offers to four restricted free agents, including running backs Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman. Also tendered offers were wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and nose tackle Steve McLendon. By tendering offers, the Steelers reserve the right to match any free agent offer the players receive from other clubs. All four players can also remain with the Steelers by signing their tenders or working out long-term deals with the team. Dwyer and Redman were the Steelers' leading rushers last season, as the club had numerous injury issues at the running back position. Rashard Mendenhall was coming off ACL surgery and also missed time with an Achilles injury, leaving Dwyer and Redman to carry much of the load last year. Both also battled through their own ailments, with Dwyer leading the club with 623 rushing yards and Redman following with 410 yards. Sanders was Pittsburgh's fourth-leading receiver last season with 44 catches for 626 yards and one touchdown. Should he remain with the Steelers, he will likely see more playing time with the expected loss of Mike Wallace to free agency. McLendon had two sacks and a forced fumble last year. 03/12 10:22:15 ET |
