National League Game Summary - Milwaukee at Cincinnati

(Friday, August 23rd)

Final Score: Milwaukee 6, Cincinnati 4

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Maybe they should nickname him "Krush."

The red-hot Khris Davis smacked a pair of two-run homers, including a go- ahead shot as part of a three-run eighth inning, in the Milwaukee Brewers' 6-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a three-game set.

The rookie Davis is batting .467 (14-of-30) with five homers and nine RBI during his nine-game hitting streak for Milwaukee, which has won two of its last three tilts.

"It's a good feeling because a lot of guys have smiles on their faces," said Davis. "Whatever I can do to help my teammates is amazing because it's about them."

Davis went 6-for-11 with a pair of homers during last weekend's series against the Reds.

Rob Wooten (2-0) fired a perfect seventh to pick up the win.

Brandon Phillips had a homer among his two hits to go along with a pair of runs scored for the Reds, who had won four of their last five contests coming in.

The game was tied 3-3 heading into the eighth. Alfredo Simon (5-4) replaced Logan Ondrusek to begin the frame and walked Aramis Ramirez. Carlos Gomez sacrifice bunted pinch-runner Logan Schafer over to second before Davis cracked a two-run shot onto the grassy knoll in center to give Milwaukee a 5-3 lead.

"One of the mistakes I made and it cost us the game," said Simon.

Scooter Gennett later hit a solo shot in the inning to make it 6-3.

Zack Cozart's RBI single in the home half cut the spread to 6-4, but Jim Henderson fired a scoreless ninth to notch his 20th save of the year.

Earlier, a one-out RBI single by Norichika Aoki in the third got the Brewers on the board, but a two-run single by Cozart in the fourth put the Reds up 2-1.

Davis belted an opposite-field two-run shot into the seats in right-center in the sixth to give Milwaukee a 3-2 edge before Phillips' solo blast in the home half tied the game.

Game Notes
