Description: Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. had 22 points, seven rebounds and an assist as New York won its second game in a row.
Insight: This was just the fourth time this season New York won back-to-back games this season. Even with no Kyle Lowry for Toronto, Knicks fans will take it. Hardaway should continue to be the team's best fantasy option for the rest of the season, but that isn't saying much.
Description: Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani may have had his best game as a member of New York during Friday's double overtime win against the Pistons.
Insight: He went 10-of-20 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line for 25 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, one 3-pointer, one steal, one block, and zero turnovers. Despite the solid outing, Bargnani can be left on the wire.
Description: Knicks point guard Jose Calderon was seen at practice wearing a walking boot, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.
Insight: The Knicks are no longer trying to win, just raise their ping pong ball percentage so there is no reason for him to come back at less than 100 percent. Langston Galloway and Alexey Shved would split the point guard work.
Description: Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani scored a team-high 17 points during Wednesday's loss to the Celtics.
Insight: He did so off the bench and went 5-of-13 from the field and 7-of-9 from the line. Bargnani also had six boards, one assist, and two blocks. Langston Galloway, Jason Smith, and Lou Amundson each scored 14 points for the Knicks as well.
Description: Knicks point guard Langston Galloway scored a team-high 13 points during Saturday's loss versus Cleveland.
Insight: Galloway went just 5-of-14 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line. He also chipped in six rebounds, five assists, one 3-pointer, one steal, and one turnover. Galloway should be owned everywhere.
Description: Knicks point guard Langston Galloway shot 50 percent from the floor on Friday as he led the team with 19 points.
Insight: Galloway was 7-of-14, including 3-for-5 from the 3-point line. If owners have to own someone from the Knicks, it might as well be Galloway. He is averaging 12.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 3.0 apg in 31.6 minutes per game over the last five contests.
Description: Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. will come off the bench on Friday against the Heat.
Insight: New York is in full tank-mode, so Hardaway has been designated to a bench role. If losing is the objective, it might be wise to leave Hardaway on the floor because he has really struggled lately, averaging 8.8 ppg and 1.7 3-pointers per game in February.
Description: Amare Stoudemire signed with the Dallas Mavericks, but will not play in Thursday or Friday's games.
Insight: Dallas was always the favorite for his services, so no surprise here. We need to see how Stoudemire fits in with the Mavericks before determining his value, but with him destined for a reserve role, the potential is not very high.
Description: Amare Stoudemire will sign with the Dallas Mavericks if he clears waivers on Wednesday, according to Espn.com and RealGM.com.
Insight: Dallas was the favorite for his services, so no surprise here. We need to see how Stoudemire fits in with the Mavericks before determining his value, but with him destined for a reserve role, the potential is not very high.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire has been waived.
Insight: Stoudemire won't be out of a job for long. Dallas is rumored to be the favorite for his services, but the Clippers and perhaps the Spurs could also be in the running. Stoudemire was averaging 12.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg off the Knicks bench.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire will play on Wednesday versus the Magic.
Insight: Stoudemire has seen his minutes decrease lately and now the rumors are circling that he will pursue a buyout. If that happens, the Huffington Post has reported that the Phoenix Suns would be the frontrunner for his services. Until then, however, owners will have to settle for his minutes in New York.
Description: The Knicks twitter page reported forward Carmelo Anthony is very sore and is doubtful versus the Magic on Wednesday.
Insight: Anthony reinjured his knee on Monday against the Heat. Fantasy owners should be thankful he is playing at all at this point. All signs continue to point for Anthony to be shut down sometime this spring.
Description: There is a lot of speculation that Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony could be shut down for the season at any time.
Insight: Be thankful that you are still getting production from him at this point. Anthony should probably be traded, if you can, as he doesn't figure to play out the season on a team that has no chance to go anywhere.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony started very hot on Monday and finished with 26 points against the Heat.
Insight: Just like the Knicks, Anthony flamed out after earning a 14-point lead in the first quarter. Anthony didn't finish the game as he left in the fourth quarter after he re-injured his knee. Miami outscored New York, 32-21, in the final quarter.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony left Monday's game versus the Heat in the fourth quarter.
Insight: Anthony appeared to suffer a leg injury, but it was not clear to what part of the leg. Based on his knee problems this season, it is likely to his knee although that has not been confirmed. Anthony went into the Knicks locker room with about seven minutes remaining in the game.
Description: Knicks point guard Langston Galloway scored a team-high 15 points during Saturday's loss to the Warriors.
Insight: Galloway was a dreadful 5-of-19 from the field, and also had four boards, three assists, three 3-pointers, two steals, and one turnover. He is worth owning everywhere, and will see a ton of minutes throughout the rest of the season.
Description: Knicks point guard Langston Galloway was second on the team in scoring with 13 points versus the Lakers on Sunday.
Insight: That's not very high for a team's second scorer, but New York still won, 92-80. Carmelo Anthony scored 31 points to lead the Knicks. Galloway was just 4-of-11 from the field but did hit two 3-pointers with five rebounds, two assists and a block.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 31 points in the victory over the Lakers on Sunday.
Insight: Anthony also grabbed eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. He was 13-of-25 from the field, hitting 2-for-4 at the 3-point line. We don't mean to beat a dead horse, but Anthony will continue to produce these kinds of numbers until he shuts down for the season.
Description: Knicks forward Lance Thomas is signed with the team for the remainder of the season.
Insight: Thomas, along with a few other younger players, have rejuvenated the Knicks locker room, but they aren't really fantasy relevant. Thomas could start to see some major minutes if Carmelo Anthony is shut down for the season, but until then, he should remain on the waiver wire.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will start versus the Pacers on Thursday.
Insight: Anthony and the Knicks are playing the second game of a back-to-back set on Thursday, and Anthony scored 31 points on Wednesday. He is playing and is a must-start. It would still be best to sell Anthony, however, because the chances he gets shutdown for the remainder of the season are still very high.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony led New York with 31 points and 10 rebounds versus the Thunder on Wednesday, but should be considered questionable for Thursday's game against Indiana.
Insight: Anthony is not expected to play both games in any back-to-back situations for the remainder of the season. If Anthony sits, figure Tim Hardaway Jr., Lance Thomas and Langston Galloway to take more shots.
Description: Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. hit four 3-pointers versus the Thunder on Wednesday.
Insight: Hardaway came off the bench to scored 14 points. New York also received 17 point from Lance Thomas off the bench as the Knicks beat Oklahoma City, 100-92. Hardaway has shot 52 percent from the field over the last two games.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony led New York with 31 points and 10 rebounds versus the Thunder on Wednesday.
Insight: Even though Oklahoma City was without Kevin Durant, it was an exciting victory for the Knicks. It was their ninth of the season. Anthony took just two 3-pointers, hitting one and was 12-of-28 from the field overall.
Description: Knicks point guard Jose Calderon is doubtful for Monday's game against Sacramento while dealing with a bruised left knee.
Insight: He is making progress, according to coach Derek Fisher, but if Calderon is unable to play, Langston Galloway will likely get another start. Galloway has played well in his last four games and is a viable fantasy option.
Description: Knicks forward Lance Thomas played 41 minutes against the Hornets on Saturday and scored 16 points.
Insight: Thomas led the game in minutes and was 7-of-14 from the field. With Carmelo Anthony expected to be shutdown at some point this spring, Thomas is an intriguing fantasy add. He also had eight rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.
Description: Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. had a game-high 25 points in the loss versus the Hornets on Saturday.
Insight: Without Carmelo Anthony and Kemba Walker, the Knicks and Hornets game was a snoozer. Hardaway was the only player with more than 20 points as Charlotte came back to win, 76-71. Hardaway was 9-of-17 from the floor with six rebounds and five assists.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will not play on Saturday versus the Hornets.
Insight: Anthony played 42 minutes on Friday, so the team wants him to rest. Anthony took 24 shots in each of the last two games, so there are quite a bit of chances available for other players on Saturday.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire will play Wednesday against the 76ers.
Insight: Stoudemire will probably come off the bench and play around 20 minutes. Stoudemire is averaging 12.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.1 bpg, but can't be counted in daily leagues because his knees are a reliability.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony said his knee was feeling good and that he will play versus the 76ers on Wednesday according to ESPN New York.
Insight: Anthony did admit he probably won't be able to handle back-to-back games, but that won't happen for the Knicks until Jan. 28-29. Fantasy owners probably don't have to worry until then, and Anthony should be in every fantasy lineup.
Description: Knicks point guard Langston Galloway scored 21 points, hitting three 3-pointers in the victory over the Pelicans.
Insight: Who? We understand if fantasy owners out there don't know who this guy is. He has now played five NBA games, averaging 9.8 ppg, 3.0 apg, and 2.0 rpg. This was clearly his best game, so it will be interesting to see if Galloway can repeat this kind of success.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored 24 points to help snap the Knicks 16-game losing streak.
Insight: New York beat New Orleans, 99-92. Anthony was 7-of-15, hitting three 3-pointers in the game. He also had nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal. Anthony will continue to be a top fantasy option as long as he is playing.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire is questionable for Monday's game against New Orleans.
Insight: Stoudemire is averaging 12.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.1 bpg, but can't be counted on to play every day. He managed just eight minutes in London, so even if active he shouldn't be started by fantasy owners.
Description: Knicks guard Shane Larkin left Thursday's game with a sprained ankle in his left leg according to the Bergen Record.
Insight: It just keeps getting worse for the Knicks. Larkin has been in effective of late, and he finished Thursday with one assist, one rebound and three turnovers in 19 minutes, but the Knicks need everybody they can get.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 25 points on Thursday.
Insight: Anthony put on quite a display for the London faithful at O2 Arena, but three other Knicks starters didn't score a single point. New York started the game 0-for-10 and fell behind Milwaukee, 14-0. Anthony was 7-of-12 from the field, 10-for-12 at the line with three rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire had been targeting a Jan 15 return and will make his return against Milwaukee, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday.
Insight: Stoudemire is averaging 13.1 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.1 bpg, but can't be counted on to play every day. The Knicks know that too and apparently are thinking about buying out his contract. Carmelo Anthony will be in Thursday's lineup as well.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony did not play on Wednesday due to his knee issue and is targeting a return against the Bucks on Jan. 15.
Insight: Anthony recently said that he won't shut it down for the season yet, but the "yet" implies it's going to happen at some point. Sooner rather than later seems more likely. He's averaging 23.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 3.1 apg.
Description: Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith will be active for Wednesday's game versus the Rockets.
Insight: The trade is official, so Smith will be able to make his Cleveland debut. Smith will receive about the same amount of minutes Dion Waiters was in Cleveland, but Smith actually has a better chance to be productive because he shoots better from long range.
Description: Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert underwent a doctor evaluation and it was determined he is still at least two weeks away from returning to the court according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Shumpert has been out since dislocating his shoulder on Dec. 12. When he does eventually return, it is no guarantee Shumpert will get consistent playing time with his new team, so fantasy owners should plan accordingly.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will not play on Wednesday due to his knee issue and is targeting a return against the Bucks on Jan. 15.
Insight: That pretty much rules Anthony out for the next week. Anthony recently said that he won't shut it down for the season yet, but the "yet" implies it's going to happen at some point. Sooner rather than later seems more likely.
Description: Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been traded to the Cavaliers in a three-team deal.
Insight: The Knicks didn't get any helpful pieces back but did make salary space by dealing Smith and Iman Shumpert. The players the Knicks did get in the trade were Alex Kirk and Lou Amundson from Cleveland and Lance Thomas from Oklahoma City.
Description: Knicks power forward Quincy Acy came off the bench to lead New York with 19 points on Monday.
Insight: It was another lopsided loss as the Knicks dropped their 11th in a row. New York has now fallen behind the 76ers in the standings because Philadelphia has lost fewer games. The Knicks and 76ers have each won five games. Acy was 7-for-8, including 2-for-3 from the 3-point line, and grabbed 14 rebounds, but no one else in a Knicks uniform showed up.
Description: Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. scored a team-high 17 points during Sunday's loss to the Bucks.
Insight: With Carmelo Anthony sidelined, Hardaway Jr. went 6-of-13 from the field, 2-of-4 from the line, and 3-of-5 from deep. He also had four assists, three rebounds, one steal, one block, and two turnovers. Anthony is expected to eventually be shutdown for the remainder of the season, which will increase Hardaway Jr.'s value.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony did not play on Friday and is expected to miss Sunday as well due to a sore left knee.
Insight: The Knicks have little to play for, so they are going to rest Carmelo Anthony, who has been battling a sore knee. Fantasy owners with Anthony are going to have to deal with the fact that he could be shut down for the season at any time.
Description: Knicks guard J.R. Smith was the Knicks leading score with 22 points against the Pistons.
Insight: With no Carmelo Anthony, someone had to step up, so it was Smith. He took a team-high 20 shots and scored 22 points with five assists, three rebounds and three steals. Anthony may miss a lot of games in the second half, so Smith is a worthy addition.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will not play on Friday.
Insight: The Knicks have little to play for, so they are going to rest Carmelo Anthony, who has been battling a sore knee. Fantasy owners with Anthony are going to have to worry that Anthony will miss any game for the rest of the season because the Knicks are going nowhere this season, and it might be in the team's best interest to shut him down.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored 36 points as he tried to will New York to victory on Saturday.
Insight: Unfortunately for Anthony and Knicks fans, New York still lost in overtime. Anthony finished with 36 points and 11 rebounds along with six assists. Anthony has been able to stay productive despite his injury problems this season although his point and rebound averages are slightly down from last season.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points, but he needed 28 shots to get there.
Insight: Anthony's total wasn't enough to get the Knicks a win and they lost for a league-leading 26th time. Melo has scored 30 or more in four straight Christmas Day games. Overall it's been a disappointing season with his averages down in points and rebounds.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored a team-high 28 points during Sunday's loss to the Raptors.
Insight: He went 12-of-26 from the field and 3-of-5 from the line. Anthony also had five rebounds, three assists, one 3-pointer, one steal, and two turnovers. Owners are just hoping he can stay on the floor.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Saturday.
Insight: Unfortunately, it was enough as New York lost to Phoenix, 99-90. Anthony shot 9-of-19 from the field and 6-for-6 at the free-throw lin. Anthony also had three assists, three steals and a block.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire scored six points in the fourth quarter to help the Knicks rally, but it wasn't enough as New York dropped another close one.
Insight: New York leads the league with the most five-point or less deficit losses. Stoudemire finished with 16 points, six rebounds and four blocks in 31 minutes. He is the best offensive player for the Knicks when Carmelo Anthony doesn't play.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, who scored a team-high 26 points in the,107-87, loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday, is expected to miss Thursday's game due to a sore left knee, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News. UPDATE: Anthony will not play. Make sure he is not in your lineup Thursday.
Insight: Anthony is averaging 23.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 3.3 apg which is significantly below last season's totals. The Knicks don't have many healthy bodies with Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Amare Stoudemire also watching from the sidelines.
Description: Knicks guard J.R. Smith is expected to miss Thursday's game against Chicago due to a partially torn left plantar fascia.
Insight: It's about his pain tolerance and therefore each day is different, but he's missed the past four games so the level must be pretty high. Tim Hardaway Jr. figures to see around 35 minutes and is a viable fantasy option.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored a team-high 26 points in the, 107-87, loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday.
Insight: It was another lackluster performance from the Knicks, who have scored fewer than 90 points in regulation nine times this season. Anthony was 11-of-23, including 2-of-4 from the 3-point line with five rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block.
Description: Knicks guard Shane Larkin is questionable for Tuesday's game against Dallas due to illness.
Insight: Larkin could see a lot of playing time if he can get healthy with Iman Shumpert out and J.R. Smith very questionable. Larkin isn't seeing enough time normally to be fantasy worthy and is averaging 5.4 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.3 apg.
Description: The Knicks announced guard Iman Shumpert has been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and will miss at least three weeks.
Insight: With J.R. Smith already out with a foot injury, Tim Hardaway Jr. will see a lot more playing time. It will be interesting to see how Hardaway plays in the starting lineup with Carmelo Anthony since it came out this week that the two are apparently not getting along very well this season.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony took nearly as many shots as all the other starters combined as he made 11-of-22 field goals and scored 32 points on Friday.
Insight: It had to be 34 to ensure a victory that the Knicks let slip away on the last Hornets possession. Charlotte won, 103-102, and Anthony missed the last 2-point shot New York had in the game. Anthony did make all eight of his foul shots and grab seven rebounds.
Anthony also shot 1-of-7 from the 3-point line. He had nine rebounds and six assists, so with the 20 points, he had a decent night, but overall, fantasy owners aren't getting as much as they would like out of Anthony. As for the Knicks, Anthony missed two 3-pointers that would have tied the game as New York fell, 98-93, to its crosstown rival.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire will start again on Friday against the Hornets.
Insight: Stoudemire was the best player on offense for the Knicks Thursday as Carmelo Anthony continued to struggle. There should be some concerns Stoudemire will wear down as this is his second start of a back-to-back, and the forward has averaged 34.7 minutes per game over the last three games. But for Friday, Stoudemire is a nice plug-in.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points on Tuesday but only five of those points came in the second half.
Insight: Anthony also shot 1-of-7 from the 3-point line.
Description: Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been downgraded to doubtful for Tuesday's game against Brooklyn after being sent home from Monday's practice due to his illness.
Insight: Smith (flu-like sypmtoms) could only last six minutes Sunday after getting an IV before the game. He's not produced for fantasy owners this season averaging 9.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.4 apg. and should not be started.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony (back spasms) came out of Sunday's game without any setbacks and can be started as usual.
Insight: Anthony came back with a bang, posting 31 points, eight rebounds and a pair of assists. His numbers are down a bit this season (23.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg), but we expect that to change now that he's healthy.
Description: Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire scored 20 points, shooting 7-for-8 from the floor on Friday versus the Thunder.
Insight: It has gotten pretty ugly for New York without superstar Carmelo Anthony as Oklahoma City won, 105-78. As long as Anthony is out, it will not be pretty for the Knicks, but someone has to score, and Stoudemire looks to be the most likely candidate.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will not play on Friday because of his back spasms.
Insight: There are rumors that Anthony will sit for awhile until his back is 100 percent. Anthony did participate in pre-game shooting drills, so at least that is a good sign. J.R. Smith will continue to get plenty of shots while Iman Shumpert and Jose Calderon will also have bigger roles.
Description: Knicks point guard Jose Calderon scored a team-high 21 points in Wednesday's overtime loss to Dallas.
Insight: Somebody needed to step up during the absence of Carmelo Anthony, and Calderon did just that. He was 7-of-13 from the floor, and all seven of his field goals were 3-pointers. He also had 10 rebounds, four assists, and two turnovers.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is dealing with what sounds like a pretty serious back injury, and he is not expected to play on Wednesday according to the New York Post.
Insight: He is also not expected to play Friday, and there is no timetable for his return. The Knicks are now concerned this injury could effect Anthony all season, and fantasy owners should share the same concern. Shane Larkin started in Anthony's place in the second half on Monday. Amare Stoudemire along with several other players should get more opportunities as long as Anthony is out.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony played his best game of the season, but New York fell at the buzzer to Utah.
Insight: Trey Burke hit the clutch shot in the corner, which will overshadow Anthony's fantastic night. He was 16-of-26 from the field and 13-of-16 from the line for 46 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, one 3-pointer, and two turnovers. Owners will hope this gets Melo going.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony finally had a good shooting night in Wednesday's loss to the Magic.
Insight: He was 10-of-17 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line for 27 points, five rebounds, one assist, two 3-pointers, one steal, one block, and one turnover. Anthony is poised to go on a hot streak.
Description: Knicks guard Iman Shumpert had a strong game Saturday against the Hawks.
Insight: He was 8-of-12 from the field for 19 points, and also had seven assists, four rebounds, one steal, but four turnovers as well. Shumpert is averaging 13.7 ppg, 3.4 apg, 3.4 rpg, and .86 spg early this season, and if he keeps those numbers consistent, Shumpert will be a valuable fantasy player in 2014-15.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony had another poor performance.
Insight: This looks like its starting to be a trend. Anthony scored 19 points, but shot just 5-of-20 from the floor against the Nets on Friday. His 8-for-9 at the free-throw line helped him avoid fantasy disaster. Anthony also turned in four rebounds and four assists.
Description: Knicks guard Iman Shumpert will start at the point Friday against the Nets.
Insight: Both Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. will start versus the Nets because Pablo Prigioni is out with an ankle injury. Shane Larkin had been starting at point guard, but he will fill Progioni's role and come off the bench on Friday.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony had his second straight poor night.
Insight: Anthony did not hit a field goal in the first half against the Pistons on Wednesday. He did better in the second half. Anthony finished with eight assists and six rebounds but only 13 points on 5-of-21 shooting.
Description: Heat player Luol Deng will play against the Hornets on Wednesday.
Insight: Deng suffered a minor nerve injury against the Rockets on Tuesday. The injury will not affect his playing time, and small forwards have done very well against the Hornets this season. Make sure Deng is in the starting lineup.
Description: Knicks guard J.R. Smith is suspended one game due to his shot to Glen Rice Jr.'s groin on Tuesday night.
Insight: Smith will miss Wednesday's game versus the Pistons. With Smith out, Iman Shumpert should be in most fantasy lineups as he has a chance to build upon his 19-point outing from Tuesday. Tim Hardaway Jr. will also see an increase in minutes.
Description: Knicks PF/C Andrea Bargnani will not return until Nov 12, according to coach Derek Fisher.
Insight: Quincy Acy and Amare Stoudemire have been sharing the power forward minutes. It's hard to recommend keepinh a player with Bargnani's injury history on your fantasy roster. Yes, he can play when healthy, but that hasn't been very often over the past three seasons.
Description: Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani has been ruled out of the first three games of the season.
Insight: Nothing new here for a guy who has missed more than half of the games over the past three seasons. Sunday versus Charlotte is the earliest he could play, but fantasy owners should not expect anything from him - then they won't be disappointed.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony led the team in scoring, during Wednesday's loss to Chicago.
Insight: It was not much of an accomplishment, as Anthony had only 14 points. The Knicks shot only 36.5 percent from the field, and Anthony and Amare Stoudemire (12 points) were the only two players to score in double-figures.
Description: Heat player Luol Deng will be one of the best rebounders and passers at the small forward position this season.
Insight: Deng takes on LeBron James' role in Miami, and he should be among the league leaders in minutes played, rebounds and assists, especially for small forwards. The Heat could also ask Deng to score a lot if Dwyane Wade goes down with an injury.
Description: A true fantasy breakout for Knicks shooting guard Iman Shumpert this season will be tough.
Insight: Shumpert has not played as well as he did in his rookie season, and this season, he will have to fight Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. for playing time. Still, Shumpert's offensive skill is better suited for the new triangle offense, and the Knicks will need Shumpert's defense, which will get him minutes on the floor.
Description: Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire will have some value in deeper fantasy points leagues this season.
Insight: Stoudemire is in a contract year, so he should be motivated to play well. His motivation hasn't been the issue during his time in New York, though, it has been his body. Hopefully, he can stay healthy in a reduced role and chip in quality percentages.
Description: Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani could be a good late-round flier in fantasy leagues.
Insight: New York fans are laughing and shaking their head as some fans likely forget this buffoon was still on the roster. Bargnani is 7 feet tall and plays center, yet doesn't rebound, block shots or shoot all that well from the field. The Knicks could certainly use some scoring from him and being that he is in a contract year, fantasy owners late in drafts could roll the dice on him staying motivated to perform well.
Description: Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is a potential sleeper in fantasy this season.
Insight: Hardaway showed in his rookie season that he can score. He averaged 10.2 PPG in just about 23 minutes per game and shot over 36 percent from the 3-point line. That gives him tremendous upside, but J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert will steal some minutes from Hardaway again.
Description: Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is a potential valuable fantasy option Friday if Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith are both sidelined.
Insight: Hardaway took 18 shots and posted 23 points on Wednesday and could be good again if all these shooters are out of the lineup. Unfortunately, he doesn't give you much else other than points and three-pointers.
Description: Knicks guard J.R. Smith told NBC Sports he is struggling to adjust to the triangle offense this preseason.
Insight: That's not what fantasy owners want to hear. Smith is already battling Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. for playing time. Even when he is on the court, he will always be the second option to Carmelo Anthony. Smith can still be a prolific 3-point shooter, but don't expect Derek Fisher to put up with his non-sense as Mike Woodson did.
Description: Knicks point guard Jose Calderon will not provide fantasy owners much besides assists and 3-pointers.
Insight: Calderon, however, will provide plenty of those. He averaged 4.7 assists last season, and our projections have that number going up by at least two with Carmelo Anthony. Calderon also has a career 41.1 field goal percentage from behind the arc, exactly what the triangle offense needs.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will once again be a fantasy monster.
Insight: In Phil Jackson's triangle offense, Anthony might shoot less, but ideally, that just means a higher field goal percentage and more assists. Anthony should remain in the scoring-title race while also being a more balanced fantasy player.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony had a huge night on Wednesday in a preseason game against the Wizards.
Insight: Anthony scored the game-winning jumper and received the foul. He scored 30 points and had three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes. He shot 11-of-19 from the floor.
Description: Knicks coach Derek Fisher said he could play Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. on the court at the same time this season according to ESPN New York.
Insight: Shumpert would run the point while Smith and Hardaway Jr. would be on the wings in that situation. Assuming Carmelo Anthony is also on the floor, he would be the power forward. That sort of contradicts what Anthony stated last week when he said he would play more small forward this season. We don't expect Fisher to use Shumper at the point very much this season as he did not look comfortable at the position last season.
Description: Knicks PF/C Andrea Bargnani started at power forward in a preseason game on Wednesday.

Insight: Deng averaged 16 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists per game in 63 games last season with the Bulls and Cavaliers. The Heat will count on Deng to replace some of what they are losing from LeBron James' departure.

Insight: Calderon will be reunited with former Raptors teammate Andrea Bargnani, who just picked up his option for next season. Calderon (11.4 ppg, 4.7 apg in 2013-14) is an upgrade over the underwhelming Raymond Felton.

Insight: Felton (9.7 ppg, 5.6 apg in 2013-14) was arrested back in February. He'll have to do some community service and pay a fine. It's possible the league could hand down a suspension at a later date.
Description: Carmelo Anthony has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowksi, Yahoo Sports

Description: Rumors are running rampant about the future of Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.
Insight: Yahoo Sports has reported that Anthony is leaning towards leaving the Knicks while the New York Post said the Knicks feel good about their chances of keeping Melo. The Bulls, Knicks and Rockets seem to have the upper hand in landing the seven-time All-Star though Miami could always fight its way into the mix.
Description: According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Heat are looking to sign Carmelo Anthony.
Insight: It's a foregone conclusion that Anthony will opt out of his contract with the Knicks and become a free agent. The move would give Miami a Big Four featuring Melo, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Of course, in order for this to happen, all four would have to accept a significant pay cut. At this point, it's unclear if Anthony is willing to do that.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has until June 23 to notify the team if he plans to opt out of the final year of his contract, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

Description: New York point guard Raymond Felton was told by Phil Jackson that the team will attempt to trade him this offseason. SOURCE: SNY
Insight: Good luck with that. After averaging a career-worst 9.7 ppg on miserable 39.5 percent shooting, Felton isn't someone teams will be bending over backwards to get. At 29, the UNC alum's best days are probably behind him. Marcus Smart and Tyler Ennis could both be options for the Knicks at point guard depending on where they fall in the draft lottery.
Description: Cole Aldrich was New York's top performer Tuesday in a win over Brooklyn.
Insight: He netted 13 points to go with 13 rebounds. Both totals were season-highs. Aldrich played 25 minutes for the Knicks and should see a similar workload in tomorrow's season finale against the Raptors.
Description: New York forward Carmelo Anthony will not participate in Tuesday's game against Brooklyn.
Insight: He's been playing with a torn labrum, though according to Newsday's Al Iannazzone, the injury will not require surgery. With free agency looming, it's possible that Carmelo has played his final game in a Knicks uniform.

Insight: He's dealing with a "dead" arm right now. With New York a game and a half behind Atlanta for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, we'd expect Carmelo (11.5 ppg over his last two contests) to continue playing through the injury.
Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony (shoulder) will start Sunday against the Heat.
Insight: Melo has a sprained shoulder and is coming off a game in which he shot 5-of-14 and had 10 points and nine turnovers, but the Knicks probably need to win out to make the playoffs because they are behind two games in the loss column to the Hawks.
Description: Knicks guard Ray Felton suffered rib and back contusions during Wednesday's game but he returned to the bench and is available to return, according to Chris Broussard of ESPN.
Insight: Felton's miserable season has gotten worse lately, as he averaged 7.8 ppg on .388 shooting, 5.3 assists and 1.9 turnovers in 19 games prior to Wednesday. The Knicks have a 15-point lead in the third quarter so the Knicks may just hold out Felton the rest of the game.

Description: The Knicks are listing Tim Hardaway Jr. as questionable for Wednesday's game due to a sprained right ankle, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.
Insight: Hardaway's X-rays were negative, but the guard looked to be in a lot of pain when the injury happened and was in a wheelchair afterward. If Hardaway can't play, Iman Shumpert and Pablo Prigioni will see more playing time.

Description: New York F/C Amare Stoudemire is questionable for Wednesday's game against Sacramento, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday.
Insight: It's the second game of a back-to-back. Stoudemire has averaged 27.5 minutes, 17.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 0.8 blocks his last 11 games, and coach Mike Woodson said before Tuesday's game that he hoped to have the forward for both games of the back-to-back.
Description: New York F/C Amare Stoudemire will return to action Saturday against the Bucks. SOURCE: Al Iannazzone, Newsday
Insight: Stoudemire (10.8 ppg, 4.6 rpg) got a night off for rest purposes after playing six straight games. He has averaged 27 mpg, 17.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 1.2 bpg in those six games, so the Knicks want to make sure he stays in the lineup long term.
Description: Knicks center Tyson Chandler will miss his second straight game Wednesday against the Celtics. SOURCE: Al Iannazzone, Newsday
Insight: He's out for personal reasons. Amare Stoudemire (10.8 ppg, 4.6 rpg) got the start at center Monday versus the Sixers, though he's also out for tonight's game (rest). With those two sidelined, Cole Aldrich (0.9 ppg) will make his first career start.
Description: Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire had 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 28 minutes Saturday at Cleveland.
Insight: The 31-year-old has averaged 26.6 minutes, 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks over his last five games. It's only a matter of time before Stoudemire's knees start bothering him again, so enjoy this production while it lasts.

Insight: Chandler produced up double-digit points in seven of those 11, including Saturday when he had 15 points and 11 boards at Cleveland. Description: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony added 29 points Friday in a blowout win over Utah.

Description: Joakim Noah is trying to recruit Carmelo Anthony to play in Chicago next season. SOURCE: Chris Broussard, ESPN

Description: Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire played 32 minutes and had 22 points and six rebounds Monday at Detroit.
Insight: It probably wasn't a good decision to increase Stoudemire's minutes in the second game of a back-to-back and while the forward has been dealing with knee soreness, but the Knicks don't have much depth.
Description: Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire scored 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting in 23 minutes Sunday after missing Friday's game with knee soreness, and he says he will ignore the usual routine of sitting out the second half of a back-to-back Monday against Detroit.
Insight: Stoudemire is only going to get 22-25 minutes per game so it will be tough for him to provide consistent fantasy production.
Description: New York center Tyson Chandler was extremely active on the boards Sunday against Chicago.
Insight: Chandler, who came down with 22 rebounds on Sunday, has averaged a stunning 17 boards per contest over his last five games. His offensive contributions haven't been as noticeable (11.0 ppg in his last five) but that's nitpicking. Until this rebound binge is over, fantasy owners have no choice but to start Chandler.
Description: In a surprise move, New York guard Iman Shumpert will return to the starting lineup Sunday against Chicago. SOURCE: Alan Hahn, ESPN New York
Insight: Shumpert missed five games with a sprained MCL. He could be on a minutes limit at first, which means fantasy owners may want to wait a few days before starting him. Shumpert's return will force J.R. Smith (12.9 ppg, 3.1 apg) back to his more familiar sixth man role.
