Description: New Orleans halfback Pierre Thomas has agreed to two-year contract extension. SOURCE: Lamont Smith, All Pro Sports Entertainment
Insight: Thomas netted 1,074 all-purpose yards last season including a career-high 513 receiving yards. He should have an even bigger role in the Saints' offense now that Darren Sproles is on the trading block.

Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas (chest) will miss Saturday's divisional playoff game against the Seahawks.
Insight: Thomas sat out New Orleans' first playoff game last Saturday at Philadelphia, but the Saints still ran the ball 36 times for 185 yards. Mark Ingram led the way with 18 carries for 97 rushing yards and a touchdown, Khiry Robinson added 45 rushing yards on eight carries and Darren Sproles produced 60 total yards on eight touches.

Insight: Thomas practiced in a limited capacity. Mark Ingram is expected to start if Thomas can't go Saturday against the Seahawks.

Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas (chest) missed Saturday's playoff game at Philadelphia and an ESPN report is calling him a "long shot" for Saturday's NFC Divisional Playoff against Seattle
Insight: The Saints had no problem covering for Thomas as RB is a deep position. Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson run the ball and Darren Sproles catches the ball so they can more than make up for the loss of Thomas who does a little of both (549 rushing, 513 receiving). Move him toward the doubtful side of questionable.

Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas (chest) missed Saturday's playoff game at Philadelphia and is questionable for Saturday's NFC Divisional Playoff against Seattle

Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas (chest) will miss Saturday's playoff game at Philadelphia.
Insight: The Saints will be without a player that had 1,062 yards from scrimmage (549 rushing, 513 receiving) and five touchdowns on 224 touches (147 carries, 77 receptions). They'll need to lean on Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram in the backfield against the Eagles.

11/22/2013 9:32:00 AM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas took advantage of an absent Darren Sproles to total 130 yards from scrimmage.
Insight: The short week worked in Thomas' owners favor as Sproles wasn't able to go. Thomas split the rushing carries with Mark Ingram, but also caught five of six targets for 57 additional yards.

10/6/2013 5:52:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas saw a season-high 28 touches in Week 5 against Chicago and had 91 yards from scrimmage and two receiving touchdowns.
Insight: Thomas' touches have been all over the place this season. He had 13 in Week 1, nine in Weeks 2 and 4 and 17 in Week 3. We think he'll be closer to 10 than 25 most weeks.

9/19/2013 11:51:00 AM
Description: Saints reporter Mike Triplett of ESPN.com thinks running back Mark Ingram has "missed out on his opportunity to establish himself as the team's primary runner" and expects a "subtle flip-flop" of Ingram and Pierre Thomas in the coming weeks.
Insight: Triplett expects Thomas to become New Orleans "1A" running option with Ingram as "1B," instead of vice versa. Ingram has rushed for just 31 yards on 17 carries in the first two games, while Thomas has 107 yards from scrimmage on 22 touches (14 carries, eight receptions). Darren Sproles has the most fantasy value of any Saints running back, but Thomas could become a flex option if the team gives up on Ingram. Right now, though, Thomas can be held on the bench.

9/10/2013 2:35:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas was on the field for 21 of 69 plays. Darren Sproles got 31plays and Mark Ingram18.
Insight: Thomas saw 13 touches (including four passes), Sproles 14 (six targets) and Ingram nine (all run attempts). Thomas is a solid all-purpose player, but it appears this will continue to be a three-way shared situation. If all three remain healthy it will be difficult for anyone to become a consistent fantasy-worthy option.

8/5/2013 12:16:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas was listed on the first team when the unofficial depth chart was released Monday, according to Katherine Terrell of the Times-Picayune.
Insight: Thomas is a solid all-purpose player, but shares the running workload with Mark Ingram. Both backs sit more than play in the Saints' pass-first offense as Darren Sproles takes the field in all passing situations.

12/28/2012 4:36:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas missed another practice and is out for the season finale with Carolina.
Insight: Thomas is a solid all-purpose player who has exceeded 800 yards from scrimmage, but the Saints have plenty of talent in the backfield with Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram.

12/26/2012 3:13:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas missed Wednesday practice. The injury was first acknowledged last week, but didn't stop him from playing against Dallas and we expect him to play in Week 17.
Insight: Thomas is a solid all-purpose player who has exceeded 800 yards from scrimmage in each of his past two seasons but he's too much of a week-to-week mystery to trust him in fantasy leagues, even when healthy.

12/23/2012 5:11:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas reached the end zone for just the second time this season Sunday against Dallas. He finished with 16 rushing yards on seven carries and 61 receiving yards and a score on seven catches.
Insight: Thomas is a solid all-purpose player who has exceeded 800 yards from scrimmage in each of his past two seasons but he's too much of a week-to-week mystery to trust him in fantasy leagues.

11/11/2012 11:22:00 AM
Description: Saints interim coach Joe Vitt said he wants to get his running backs more involved in the offense to protect the team's bad defense. SOURCE: Ed Werder
Insight: New Orleans is a pass-first team but we saw a more balanced approach in Week 9 against the Eagles. Chris Ivory, Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas combined for 23 carries, 136 yards (5.9 ypc) and a touchdown in the game. All three are risky flex plays in Week 10 against the Falcons but Thomas is probably the best option. He's the best receiver and comes into Sunday's game with 500 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 100 carries and 33 receptions for 216 yards and two touchdowns in 10 career games against Atlanta.

11/2/2012 3:15:00 PM
Description: Saints RB Pierre Thomas should be the primary beneficiary with Darren Sproles out for an undetermined amount of time with a broken hand.
Insight: The Saints don't run the ball much, but the attempts should all go to Thomas who is also a better receiver than Mark Ingram or Chris Ivory.

Description: Despite some rumblings to the contrary, two Saints coaches insisted the selection of RB Mark Ingram doesn't mean the team is shopping veteran RB Pierre Thomas. SOURCE: FOX SPORTS
Insight: "We've seen firsthand that you can't have enough (backs)," one of the coaches said. That said, the Saints have a real logjam at tailback with Thomas, Ingram, Chris Ivory, Julius Jones and Lynell Hamilton, also returning from injury. That doesn't even account for Reggie Bush, who sources from both sides still insist has a chance of returning to the club, despite a scheduled $11.8 million payout due in '11. Stay tuned.

Description: Saints RB Pierre Thomas' ankle surgery could keep him out of all offseason activities. SOURCE: NEW ORLEANS TIMES-PICAYUNE
Insight: Sean Payton revealed that Thomas' "extensive arthroscopic" surgery could keep him out all the way into the summer, but he could still be ready by training camp. Since the team surprisingly re-signed Thomas to begin with, there doesn't seem to be much concern regarding Thomas' future status.

3/3/2011 4:28:00 PM
Description: The Saints and RB Pierre Thomas have agreed to a four-year extension. SOURCE: NEWORLEANS.COM
Insight: The deal is reportedly worth $12 million. We're shocked after Thomas' injury-marred 2010 season. With the signing, the team may decide to go with their stable of running backs from last year and hope they don't get hit with the injury bug. We predict they will also draft a back in April. Thomas is not on solid ground as an RB2.

3/2/2011 10:51:00 AM
Description: The Saints have extended a restricted free agent tender to RB Pierre Thomas. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY
Insight: It's believed to be a second-round tender worth $1.8524 million. Thomas is on shaky ground going into the 2011 season after Chris Ivory put up a good showing in his absence last year. The team has shown no real urgency to get a contract extension done so far this winter.
