Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Matt Hasselbeck threw for 329 yards and a touchdown, and the Seahawks defense recorded five interceptions, as Seattle rallied to beat the lowly Detroit Lions, 32-20, in Week 9 action at Qwest Field.

"We stayed together, we grew, we built some confidence," Hasselbeck said. "We stayed to the plan. It might not have been plan 'A', but we stayed to it and got a result."
Matthew Stafford connected on 22-of-42 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions (1-7), who were coming off a 17-10 loss to the Rams last Sunday. Brandon Pettigrew caught seven passes for 70 yards and a score; Bryant Johnson hauled in two balls for 35 yards and a TD; and Kevin Smith rushed for 67 yards on 13 carries in defeat.
"Turnovers were the key to the game," said Lions head coach Jim Schwartz. "It gave us the lead (early), (and it) got them the lead (late)."
Calvin Johnson, who returned after missing the last two games with a knee injury, had just two catches for 27 yards.
Trailing 17-16 late in the third, Seattle started a drive at their own 32. On a 3rd-and-3 at the Detroit 48, Detroit's William James was whistled for defensive pass interference, a 17-yard penalty. A few plays later, Houshmandzadeh made a diving two-yard touchdown grab near the right pylon. A failed two-point conversion made it 22-17 in favor of Seattle with 2:32 left.
David Hawthorne then picked off Stafford for the second time in the tilt, giving the Seahawks the ball at their own 44. The Seahawks drove down to the two but had to settle for a 20-yard Olindo Mare field goal to make it 25-17 with 10:09 remaining in the fourth.
A 31-yard Smith run helped set up Jason Hanson's 50-yard field goal to cut the gap to 25-20 with 8:04 to play. But Stafford was picked off twice down the stretch, including a 61-yard interception return for a touchdown by Josh Wilson with 22 seconds to go.
The Lions marched down the field on the opening possession of the game, but Hanson missed a 34-yard field goal. Detroit's offense got the ball back when Louis Delmas intercepted Hasselbeck's first pass of the tilt.
A 29-yard return by Delmas put the Lions on the Seattle two. After a false start on the offense, Stafford found Pettigrew in the end zone from seven yards out for a 7-0 lead with 6:18 to go.
The Seahawks turned the ball over on the first play of their ensuing possession, as Justin Griffith lost the football after a 10-yard reception. Detroit capitalized on the turnover with a 29-yard Johnson TD catch for a 14-0 margin with 5:19 left.
Seattle then failed to convert on a 4th-and-1 in its own territory, and Hanson drilled a 41-yard field goal to make it 17-0 with 43 seconds remaining.
The Seahawks bridged the first and second periods with a 10-play, 60-yard drive that Jones capped off with a three-yard TD run to cut the gap to 10. Hawthorne then picked off Stafford to give the Seattle offense the ball back.
Mare's 37-yard field goal cut the deficit to 17-10 with three minutes to go until half. Mare then hit another 37-yarder before the half to make it a 17-13 contest.
Seattle put together an eight-play, 72-yard drive with its second possession of the third. Jones highlighted the march with a 49-yard catch-and-run off a screen pass. Mare's 24-yard field goal cut the gap to 17-16 with 9:24 left.
