NBA Game Summary - Chicago at Washington
(Saturday, April 5th)
Final Score: Chicago 96, Washington 78
Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - D.J. Augustin nailed six 3-pointers en route to 25 points and the Chicago Bulls beat the Washington Wizards, 96- 78, on Saturday night.
Joakim Noah tallied 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Carlos Boozer added 16 points for Chicago, which has won five straight games and are tied with the Toronto Raptors for the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
"We're not looking forward to the playoffs just yet, but we wanted to come out tonight and do it for ourselves," Augustin said.
John Wall had 20 points and six assists and Marcin Gortat supplied 19 points and eight boards for the Wizards, who had won four of their last five tilts coming into the game.
"You fight aggression with aggression. It was only a one-way fight tonight," Wizards head coach Randy Wittman said.
The Bulls had the Wizards doubled up by the break, 52-26, but Washington outscored them, 35-24, to whittle the deficit to 76-61 heading into the final frame.
Chicago, though, began the fourth on a 12-2 run to put the game away. Noah put in the first seven points of the surge and Augustin capped it with a triple for a commanding 88-63 cushion.
Noah finished off an earlier 12-2 burst with a dunk to stake the Bulls to a 19-8 advantage with 4:03 to go in the first. An extended 18-4 flurry that bridged into the second extended the margin to 42-18 a little past the midway point of the stanza.
Augustin was 6-of-11 from beyond the arc and 8-of-19 from the field overall ... Chicago shot 44.3 percent (35-of-79) from the floor and 39.1 percent (9- of-23) from 3-point range.
