Description: The Mariners inked shortstop Willie Bloomquist to a new two-year, $5.8 million deal on Monday. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: Bloomquist had spent his previous three seasons in Arizona. As long as he can stay healthy, Bloomquist should easily surpass the 139 at bats he logged last season.

Description: If you're competing in a daily fantasy league, Diamondbacks infielder Willie Bloomquist could be a smart play Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Insight: The Diamondbacks haven't released their starting lineup yet but based on Bloomquist's past success against starter Mark Buehrle (.463 AVG in 41 at bats), we're guessing he'll be in it. It's also worth noting that Bloomquist is hitting .563 since returning from the DL last week (9-for-16).

Description: Arizona infielder Willie Bloomquist (broken bones in left hand) has been taking grounders and batting practice and should head out on a rehab assignment very soon.
Insight: Bloomquist has mostly been used in a pinch-hitting capacity so it probably won't change many fantasy rosters.

7/6/2013 9:25:00 AM
Description: Willie Bloomquist's injured left hand has two broken bones and he'll be sidelined for up to two months. The Arizona infielder was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning Wednesday against Washington.
Insight: Bloomquist has mostly been used in a pinch-hitting capacity so it probably won't change many fantasy rosters.

Description: X-rays came back negative on Willie Bloomquist's injured left hand. The Arizona shortstop was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning Wednesday against Washington. SOURCE: Steve Gilbert, MLB.com
Insight: That's obviously good news for the D'Backs. Bloomquist has mostly been used in a pinch-hitting capacity so even if the hand injury turned out to be serious it probably wouldn't have affected many fantasy rosters.

Description: D'Backs infielder Willie Bloomquist is headed for X-rays on his left hand. SOURCE: Nick Piecoro, AZCentral.com
Insight: Bloomquist was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning. He didn't immediately come out of the game, which is always a good sign. He's hitting .292 in 21 games this year.

5/31/2013 9:21:00 PM
Description: The Diamondbacks have activated infielder Willie Bloomquist from the 15-day DL.
Insight: Bloomquist missed the first two months with a strained intercostal. Eric Chavez was placed on the DL in the corresponding roster move.

5/29/2013 11:42:00 AM
Description: D'Backs infielder Willie Bloomquist is pounding the ball in his rehab assignment at Reno (7-for-15) and should be ready to return to the big leagues shortly.
Insight: Bloomquist's batting average was solid last season (.302) but he didn't leave the yard in any of his 324 at bats and he got thrown out 10 times on the base paths (just seven steals). With the emergence of Didi Gregorius and the return of Aaron Hill in early June, Bloomquist should stay as a part-time player and have limited fantasy value.

3/27/2013 6:50:00 PM
Description: MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports that D'Backs shortstop Willie Bloomquist will begin the season on the DL after suffering a strained oblique.
Insight: Bloomquist is a pretty puzzling guy when it comes to fantasy. His batting average was solid last season (.302) but he didn't leave the yard in any of his 324 at bats and he got thrown out 10 times on the base paths (just seven steals). At age 35, he's already reached his ceiling. We'd pass on him on draft day.

8/11/2012 9:43:00 PM
Description: Lower back stiffness has sent Diamondbacks shortstop Willie Bloomquist to the disabled list.
Insight: Bloomquist makes good contact (.300 batting average) but he does it without much power (no home runs in 323 at bats this season). Stephen Drew (.216, 2 HR, 11 RBI) should see a good amount of playing time at shortstop in Bloomquist's absence.

8/3/2012 12:20:00 PM
Description: Willie Bloomquist is questionable for Friday's game against Philadelphia with a sore back.
Insight: Bloomquist just doesn't do enough to warrant a roster spot these days and he's killing fantasy owners in "net steals" leagues after being caught 10 of 17 attempts.

5/8/2012 6:51:00 PM
Description: Willie Bloomquist won't be in the starting lineup Tuesday night against St. Louis. Bloomquist injured his ankle in last night's game against the Cardinals.
Insight: It doesn't appear that Bloomquist's injury will require him to miss more than a few games but for now expect John McDonald (.333, 1 HR, 4 RBIs) to start in Bloomquist's place. Even when Bloomquist returns, he doesn't have great fantasy value (just .218 with 4 RBIs in 23 games).

1/13/2011 7:03:00 PM
Description: Willie Bloomquist has signed a one-year deal with Arizona. SOURCE: JON HEYMAN
Insight: He will be a valuable bat off the bench for Arizona because of his ability to play so many positions. He is the perfect player for the last spot on an NL bench but he has very little fantasy baseball value.

9/13/2010 3:05:00 PM
Description: The Reds have acquired Bloomquist from the Royals in exchange for a player to be named or cash considerations.
Insight: Bloomquist is not a fantasy option. (RapidDraft.com)

8/26/2010 12:04:00 AM
Description: Bloomquist went 2-for-6 with the game-winning home run against the Tigers on Wednesday.
Insight: Bloomquist is hitting .248 with three home runs and 15 RBI this season. (SportsBuff.com)

7/29/2010 5:04:00 PM
Description: ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reports Bloomquist is the most likely Royal to be dealt before Saturday's trade deadline.
Insight: Bloomquist is hitting .255 in 106 at-bats this season, but his versatility could prove valuable for a contending team. (SportsBuff.com)

7/5/2010 12:11:00 PM
Description: Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports the Red Sox, Phillies and Yankees have expressed interest in Bloomquist.
Insight: Bloomquist is not expensive (owed around$850,000 for the rest of the season), but he is only hitting .243 this season. His value lies in his immense versatility, but he is not valuable in fantasy baseball. (SportsBuff.com)

4/21/2010 8:24:00 AM
Description: Bloomquist went 3-for-4 with a run scored against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
Insight: Bloomquist may see significant at-bats if there continues to be injuries in the Royals' infield, but he is not a fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot7/29/2009 8:14:00 AM
Description: Bloomquist went 3-for-5 with a home run, RBI and two runs scored against the Orioles on Tuesday.
Insight: Bloomquist is on a four game hitting streak with seven hits over that span. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot7/7/2009 12:51:00 AM
Description: Bloomquist went 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, three RBI and a run scored against the Tigers on Monday.
