(SportsNetwork.com) - American East Division rivals will settle their differences on Sunday when the Boston Red Sox host the Baltimore Orioles in a series finale at Fenway Park.
The first two games of the weekend set were played in a doubleheader on Saturday after Friday's opener was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Red Sox won the first game of the day on a walkoff RBI single from Jonathan Herrera.
Earning the win was Koji Uehara, who pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning in relief of starter Jon Lester. Lester allowed just two unearned runs in eight innings.
The Orioles then returned the favor in the nightcap, scoring five unanswered runs to erase a 4-2 deficit and run away with a 7-4 victory.
After starter Ubaldo Jimenez allowed four runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, Brad Brach entered the game and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Zach Britton pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth to earn the save.
Nelson Cruz launched a solo home run, his 27th of the season, and also knocked in a run in the sixth inning. He now has 70 RBI this season. The Orioles also got a two-run home run from Nick Hundley in the contest as they won for the fifth time in the last six games.
Stephen Drew homered in both games and drove in three total runs for the Red Sox, who have lost four of their last five games following a series win over New York last weekend.
Kevin Gausman will make his first start since June 27 when he takes the hill for the Orioles on Sunday.
The 23-year-old has made only five starts in total this season, but has been fairly successful in those ventures, going 3-2 with an ERA of 3.86.
However, his most recent start ended in a 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay after he let up a season-worst in earned runs (five), hits (seven) and walks (four) across five innings.
Gausman has faced the Red Sox four times (1 start) and is 1-0 with a 1.86 over 9 1/3 innings against them.
Opposing him will be veteran right-hander Jake Peavy.
Peavy was an integral part of the Red Sox' run to the World Series last season, but he has really struggled to put wins together this season. Through his first 17 starts he has gone just 1-7 with an ERA of 4.82. In fact, since earning his first win on April 25, Peavy has lost his last seven decisions.
The Red Sox have also lost nine of the last 10 games in which Peavy has started.
One of those losses came against Baltimore on June 9 when Peavy let up four runs on eight hits over seven innings of work in a 4-0 setback. Peavy also pitched against Baltimore on April 20 when he earned a no decision after surrendering five runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings. He is now 2-1 with a 4.41 ERA in five career starts against the Orioles.
Peavy pitched well his last time out, as he limited the Cubs to two runs on five hits across six innings of work. However, the Red Sox offense was punchless, as they fell 2-0.
The Red Sox and Orioles have split the first 12 matchups of the season, including a four-game split at Fenway from April 18-21.
