Bourn inks four-year deal with Tribe Goodyear, AZ (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians have officially signed outfielder Michael Bourn to a four-year contract with a club option for 2017. Financial terms were not disclosed, but reports earlier this week indicated it to be worth $48 million for the first four years with the option year at $12 million. Bourn is a two-time All-Star who batted .274 with a .348 on-base percentage and 42 steals in 155 games with the Braves last season. Atlanta acquired the speedster in a trade-deadline deal with the Houston Astros the year before. The 30-year-old Bourn broke into the majors in 2006 with the Philadelphia Phillies and has batted .272 with a .339 OBP over 871 career games. He led the league in steals from 2009-11 and has scored 459 total runs. He is also a two-time recipient of the Gold Glove Award in 2009 and 2010. To make room for Bourn on the 40-man roster, the Indians placed pitcher Josh Tomlin (elbow) on the 60-day disabled list. 02/15 12:29:10 ET Powered by The Sports Network. |
