Hawks' Horford a keeper

Al Horford was selected No.3 overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2007 NBA Draft.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Alfred Joel Horford Reynoso, son of former NBA player Tito Horford, came out of the University of Florida with two NCAA championship rings and a great deal of expectations.

Horford was selected No.3 overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2007 NBA Draft and four times that year was the NBA Rookie of the Month while posting 10.1 ppg and 9.7 rpg.

But progression to the next level has been slow in coming. This season in 58 games, Horford is scoring only slightly better, at 11.5 ppg. There are however, some signs that he might be ready to step up his game.

Horford's shooting percentage is up to 52%, his assists-per-game is up from 1.5 to 2.6, he is blocking shots at a faster clip while he has lowered both turnovers and fouls.

Since coming back from a bruised knee in February, Horford has improved his game and is averaging 12.9 ppg, 10.7 rpg and 2.7 apg in the month of March.

Because he is eligible at both forward and center, he could become a valuable property in next year's fantasy drafts. With just a little more improvement, he will be a "15 and 11-type" guy and a top-10 center because he contributes across the board.
