Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
Torii Hunter, better known for his spectacular defensive plays out in center field, has been a star with the bat in his hand so far in 2009. With Vladimir Guerrero sidelined by injury, it's Hunter who has put the Angels on his back and has kept their offense going.
For the season, Hunter is batting .392 with 17 runs scored, seven HRs, 14 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .754 and an OPS of 1.146. He's hit four of the seven since "Vlad" went down in mid-April. Hunter already had 1/3 of his 2008 home run total.
But let's not be fooled by Hunter's start. Over his entire 13-year career, Hunter has hit more homers in April (42) than in any other month. He has also knocked in more runs (151) in April and stolen more bases (31) than any other month.
So while you are enjoying his production, if someone offers you a good trade for a more talented player, it might just be time to deal Hunter while he is at peak value.
