Miami Dolphins Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Knowshon Moreno, RB3/27/2014 4:05:00 PM
Description: Former Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno has agreed to a deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Insight: Moreno had the best season of his career in 2013, rushing for 1,039 yards, catching 60 balls for 548 yards and scoring 13 times. He's not likely to match those totals in Florida where they don't have the receiving weapons or the quarterback to keep the defense occupied.
Cortland Finnegan, CB3/15/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: According to NFL.com's Albert Breer, Cortland Finnegan's new deal with Miami is for two years and $11 million.
Insight: Finnegan was cut by the Rams about a week and a half ago. He posted 27 tackles in seven games last season. At age 30, Finnegan's best years are probably behind him.
Richie Incognito, G2/4/2014 5:37:00 PM
Description: Dolphins left guard Richie Incognito's suspension expired on Tuesday. SOURCE: Armando Salguero, Miami Herald
Insight: Incognito is now free to sign with any team of his choosing when he becomes a free agent next month. Following the Jonathan Martin bullying scandal, it's unlikely the former Pro-Bowler will be in high demand.
Brian Hartline, WR12/30/2013 9:24:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Brian Hartline suffered a torn PCL in his left knee Sunday against the Jets. SOURCE: Armando Salguero, Miami Herald
Insight: It doesn't matter much now that the Dolphins won't be going to the postseason. A PCL tear is much less serious than an ACL tear, which means Hartline is in no danger of missing training camp next summer.
Brian Hartline, WR12/29/2013 2:04:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline won't be returning to Sunday's game against the Jets. He's out with a knee injury. SOURCE: Adam Silverstein, OnlyGators.com
Insight: Early reports are indicating that it may be a torn ACL. Hartline will finish the regular season with 76 catches for 1,016 yards and four touchdowns.
Brian Hartline, WR12/29/2013 1:42:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Brian Hartline hurt his knee early in Sunday's game against the Jets. His return is questionable. SOURCE: Greg Gumbel, CBS Sports
Insight: Hartline had 38 yards before exiting, which gives him 1,016 receiving yards for the year. It's the former Buckeye's second straight 1,000-yard season.
Ryan Tannehill, QB12/23/2013 12:54:00 PM
Description: Ryan Tannehill will have his knee tested on Monday. SOURCE: Albert Breer, NFL Network
Insight: The Dolphins QB bowed out of Sunday's game early and now he might need an MRI. With Miami's season on the line, it's going to take something pretty major for him to sit out next week's game against the Jets.
Ryan Tannehill, QBHot12/22/2013 3:30:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill left Sunday's game at Buffalo in the fourth quarter.
Insight: Matt Moore has come on after Tannehill was sacked six times. Tannehill is questionable to return with a left knee injury, according to Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He's thrown for just 82 yards on 10-of-21 passing and Miami is down 13-0.
Jake Long, T12/22/2013 1:55:00 PM
Description: Rams left tackle Jake Long left Sunday's game with a right knee injury and his return is questionable.
Insight: Long's was a non-contact injury which never bodes well. This won't make it easy for the rams' passing game or Zac Stacy running the ball.
Daniel Thomas, RB12/22/2013 12:40:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Daniel Thomas (ankle) is active Sunday against the Bills.
Insight: Thomas is not a fantasy option, but his presence limits the upside of Lamar Miller. Don't play either player if you can help it.
Richie Incognito, G12/16/2013 8:36:00 PM
Description: Miami guard Richie Incognito will be suspended with pay for the remainder of the season. SOURCE: Chris Mortensen, ESPN
Insight: The investigation into Incognito's alleged bullying of Jonathan Martin is ongoing. Neither player is expected to be back with Miami next season.
Mike Wallace, WR12/15/2013 5:56:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace caught a touchdown for the third time in his last four games Sunday against New England.
Insight: Wallace also had his fourth 100-yard effort of the season. It followed a dud (two catches, 19 yards) in Week 14 against his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wallace has 867 yards and four TDs on 64 catches this year.
Ryan Tannehill, QBHot12/15/2013 5:28:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill exceeded 20 fantasy points for the third straight game Sunday against New England with 312 yards and three scores.
Insight: Tannehill quietly has thrown eight touchdowns with just two interceptions in that span. He's thrown for 300-plus yards three times in the last four games.
Nolan Carroll, CB12/15/2013 3:46:00 PM
Description: Nolan Carroll left Sunday's game against the Patriots die to a knee injury. He's the second player from the Dolphis secondary injured today (Brent Grimes).
Insight: Tom Brady should be able to pick apart the Dolphis secondary down two men.
Lamar Miller, RB12/11/2013 8:43:00 PM
Description: Miami halfback Lamar Miller was a full participant at Wednesday's practice. SOURCE: Adam Beasley, Miami Herald
Insight: He appears to be over the concussion he suffered last week against the Steelers. Miller should be ready to go Sunday versus the Patriots. He ran for 89 yards against them in Week 8.
Lamar Miller, RB12/11/2013 12:03:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller (concussion) returned to practice Tuesday, according to an ESPN report.
Insight: Miller suffered a concussion in the third quarter Sunday against the Steelers and is questionable for Week 15 against New England. Even if he plays, he'll be stuck in a timeshare with Daniel Thomas, who had 105 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries against the Steelers.
R.J. Stanford, CB12/10/2013 1:55:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins placed backup corner R.J. Stanford on injured reserve with a broken leg.
Insight: Stanford was primarily depth and this shouldn't effect their defense.
Daniel Thomas, RBHot12/9/2013 2:28:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Daniel Thomas returned to the lineup Sunday and rushed for 105 yards.
Insight: Thomas was rumored to be out for the season with an ankle injury just a week ago, so this performance was a huge surprise. If starter Lamar Miller can't come back from a concussion he suffered Sunday, Thomas might have a chance to repeat the effort in Week 15.
Lamar Miller, RB12/8/2013 3:53:00 PM
Description: Dolphins halfback Lamar Miller is done for the day after suffering a concussion in the first half Sunday against Pittsburgh.
Insight: He finished with 20 yards on six carries. Daniel Thomas will be asked to anchor Miami's rushing attack though the Dolphins are probably looking to throw it as they trail 28-24 in the fourth quarter.
Daniel Thomas, RB12/8/2013 12:09:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Daniel Thomas will return to action Sunday against the Steelers.
Insight: Thomas was supposed to be out for the season with an ankle injury so this is quite a surprise. Fantasy owners planning on starting Lamar Miller in Week 14 may want to change their strategy.
Mike Wallace, WR12/1/2013 5:33:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Mike Wallace put together consecutive double-digit fantasy point games for the first time all season with seven catches, 82 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Jets.
Insight: That followed Wallace grabbing five passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in Week 12. He'll remain an all-or-nothing WR3 going into a showdown with his former team the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14.
Brian Hartline, WR12/1/2013 5:30:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline produced his first 100-yard game since Week 1 with 127 yards on nine catches Sunday against the Jets.
Insight: Hartline added his third touchdown of the season. He's been a solid PPR receiver this season, catching 62 passes for 804 yards in 12 games.
Richie Incognito, G11/29/2013 7:29:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins and guard Richie Incognito have agreed to a six-week cap on his suspension. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: Martin's unpaid suspension has been reduced to two games. Overall, he was docked over $470,000 in salary. Martin, a Pro Bowler in 2012, was suspended last month for alleged bullying against teammate Jonathan Martin. Ted Wells, an independent arbitrator, is still finishing up his investigation.
Daniel Thomas, RB11/25/2013 1:23:00 PM
Description: Dolphins halfback Daniel Thomas apparently tore ligaments in his left ankle Sunday against Carolina and could be done for the season, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Insight: Thomas was getting most of the backup carries behind Lamar Miller. It's likely that Mike Gillislee will take over that role while Thomas is sidelined.
Mike Wallace, WR11/24/2013 6:44:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Mike Wallace busted out of his season-long slump Sunday in a loss to Carolina.
Insight: He finished with 127 yards on five catches. The stat line is a little deceiving as most of his yardage came on just two catches: a 53-yard touchdown in the first quarter and then a 57-yard grab to start the second. Still, it's good to see that Ryan Tannehill is looking his way again. The ten targets Wallace received were his most since October 27th against New England.
Daniel Thomas, RB11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
Description: Dolphins halfback Daniel Thomas hurt his ankle Sunday against Carolina.
Insight: Thomas (three carries for eight yards) exited the game in the third quarter. Lamar Miller is going to see a heavy workload in his absence.
Mike Pouncey, C11/22/2013 5:06:00 PM
Description: Dolphins center Mike Pouncey (gallbladder) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Insight: Miami is down to second- and third-stringers across the offensive line. Even without Charles Johnson (knee), the Panthers' dominant front seven should have a field day in Week 12.
Lamar Miller, RB11/17/2013 7:30:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Lamar Miller was given just four handoffs Sunday against the Chargers.
Insight: The Dolphins seemingly have given up on Miller as their lead tailback in favor of Daniel Thomas, who had 10 carries for 57 yards and a touchdown against San Diego. While that could change over the rest of the regular season, there's just no reason to own Miller anymore.
Mike Wallace, WR11/16/2013 4:04:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace is expected to play Sunday versus San Diego. Wallace was limited in practice this week because of a hamstring issue. SOURCE: Barry Jackson, Miami Herald
Insight: He's officially listed as questionable on Miami's injury report. Wallace caught seven balls for 112 yards last year when he faced the Chargers. Of course, that was with Ben Roethlisberger throwing to him and not his current quarterback, Ryan Tannehill.
Mike Wallace, WR11/15/2013 8:41:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Mike Wallace will carry the questionable label into Week 11's matchup with San Diego. SOURCE: Barry Jackson, Miami Herald
Insight: It's due to a sore hamstring. The former Steeler has 40 catches for 495 yards this season. He hasn't scored since Week 2.
Jonathan Martin, T11/6/2013 3:20:00 PM
Description: Miami offensive tackle Jonathan Martin has checked into a hospital to be treated for emotional distress. SOURCE: Chris Mortensen, ESPN
Insight: Martin left the team after being the victim of a bullying incident at the team's cafeteria last week. Since the incident, a recording of teammate Richie Incognito leaving a threatening voicemail for Martin has surfaced and now Incognito has been suspended indefinitely. Martin's college roommate at Stanford, Zach Ertz, now a tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles, said Martin expressed a desire to continue his NFL career in a phone conversation they had earlier this week. If Martin does decide to resume his football career at any point, there's a good chance it won't be with the Dolphins.
Richie Incognito, G11/4/2013 7:39:00 PM
Description: Miami guard Richie Incognito has been suspended indefinitely and may never play for the Dolphins again after allegedly harassing teammate Jonathan Martin with a threatening voicemail.
Insight: The transcript of the voicemail was released today and it is horrific. Martin, a second-year lineman out of Stanford, left the team last week after being bullied by teammates at the team's dining facility. Incognito has a history of questionable behavior both on and off the football field. The contents of Incognito's voicemail, which included a racial slur, are so damaging that USA Today's Tom Pelissero suspects he'll never play in the NFL again. Obviously, this ugly incident is far from being resolved and we'll keep you updated as we learn more.
Marlon Moore, WR11/4/2013 3:12:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins signed free agent wide receiver Marlon Moore.
Insight: Moore had been released by San Francisco in late October. He started his career with Miami, but his fantasy value is minimal given 12 career receptions over four seasons.
Brandon Gibson, WR10/28/2013 2:22:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Brandon Gibson suffered a torn patellar tendon Sunday against New England and will undergo surgery on Monday according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Insight: He's out for the rest of the season. Gibson was just beginning to realize his fantasy potential with three touchdowns in his last two games. Rishard Matthews will be the Dolphins' No. 3 wideout now, but he's never done anything to get fantasy owners excited.
Brandon Gibson, WR10/27/2013 2:26:00 PM
Description: The left knee injury Dolphins wideout Brandon Gibson suffered Sunday against New England appears to be season-ending. SOURCE: Albert Breer, NFL.com
Insight: He's believed to have suffered a torn left patellar tendon. It's a shame because Gibson was just beginning to realize his fantasy potential with three touchdowns in his last two appearances.
Brandon Gibson, WR10/27/2013 1:42:00 PM
Description: Miami receiver Brandon Gibson suffered a left knee injury early in Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Insight: Nick Underhill of MassLive.com hears that Gibson is likely done for the day. He'll finish with one catch for four yards and a touchdown. Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline will have to pick up the slack in his absence.
Lamar Miller, RB10/20/2013 5:43:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Lamar Miller had 43 yards on nine carries Sunday against the Bills while Daniel Thomas saw 12 carries.
Insight: Thomas ran for 60 yards in the game. Miller is stuck in a timeshare and cannot be used as anything more than a low-end flex play until that changes.
Mike Wallace, WR10/9/2013 1:59:00 PM
Description: Buccaneers defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan said cornerback Darrell Revis will likely get a lot of time covering Mike Wallace Monday against the Dolphins.
Insight: The Buccaneers have played a lot of zone this season while waiting for Revis to make it back to 100 percent after reconstructive knee surgery. According to TampaBay.com, Revis is getting to the point where he can press receivers more often and has the stamina to race step-for-step on go routes. "I'm getting back to my old self," Revis said. "I'm feeling very comfortable. The knee is feeling a lot better, the leg is feeling a lot better" Wallace leads the Dolphins with 480 yards in his first season with the team, but he should only be used as a low-end WR3 in 10-team leagues this week.
Lamar Miller, RB10/6/2013 6:51:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Lamar Miller had a string of three straight 60-yard rushing games snapped Sunday against the Ravens.
Insight: Miller rushed for 15 yards on seven carries. The running back's season high in carries is jus 14 and he has run the football 26 times total over the last three games. He's not doing anything in the passing game, either, catching just five passes for 21 yards. Fantasy owners cannot afford to start a player getting so few touches.
Mike Wallace, WR10/6/2013 6:43:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace saw 16 looks from Ryan Tannehill Sunday against the Ravens and came away with seven catches and 105 yards.
Insight: Wallace had 28 targets in the first four weeks combined, but the Dolphins made it a point to get their big-money receiver the ball Sunday. His targets will likely remain inconsistent..
Charles Clay, FB/TE10/6/2013 6:40:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay has a touchdown catch in each of the last two games. He had three catches for 52 yards Sunday against the Ravens.
Insight: He has at least 40 receiving yards in all five games this season and appears to have the trust of Ryan Tannehill.
Cameron Wake, LB9/23/2013 4:44:00 PM
Description: Dolphins DE/LB Cameron Wake suffered a knee injury in Sunday's game and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks, according to a South Florida Sun-Sentinel report.
Insight: Wake is Miami's best pass rusher and he certainly will be missed next week when the Dolphins head to New Oreans for a Monday night matchup with Drew Brees.
Cameron Wake, LB9/22/2013 5:23:00 PM
Description: Dolphins DE/LB Cameron Wake suffered a knee injury in Sunday's game and is questionable to return.
Insight: Miami's rush defense was the third-best in the NFL last year and Wake was a huge reason why. Wake led the Dolphins in sacks last season with 8.5. It could be one reason Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan had all day to throw and his Falcons didn't punt in the first half. The Dolphins will have to figure out a way to get their defense off the field in the second half.
Mike Wallace, WR9/22/2013 11:15:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace (groin) will play Sunday against the Falcons, according to Jeff Darlington of NFL.com.
Insight: A Dolphins source says that Wallace is "fine." After a quiet Week 1 against Joe Haden and the Browns, a frustrated Wallace complained about his role and ended up seeing 11 passes thrown his way in Week 2 against the Colts. He had nine catches, 115 yards and a touchdown.
Mike Wallace, WR9/20/2013 4:10:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace was added to the injury list yesterday with a groin problem, but was a limited participant in Friday's session.
Insight: After a quiet Week 1, Ryan Tannehill ended up going to Wallace nine times for 115 yards and a score in the game last Sunday. They will need both Wallace and Brian Hartline if they are to hang with the Falcons' offense in Week 3.
Lamar Miller, RB9/17/2013 10:32:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas played 69 snaps to Lamar Miller's 30 in Week 2, and coach Joe Philbin said he wants to keep their playing time comparable unless "one guy is breaking tackles left and right and taking the ball a long way, and the other guy is not being productive." SOURCE: Miami Herald
Insight: Despite rushing for three yards on 10 carries in Week 1 against the Browns, Miller still has a better yards-per-carry average than Thomas (3.0 to 2.8). If Miller continues to play as he did in Week 2, when he had 69 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, there's no way the Dolphins can continue this timeshare. Continue to hold Miller and ignore Thomas.
Lamar Miller, RB9/15/2013 6:50:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller had 69 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries Sunday at Indianapolis.
Insight: It was a nice bounce-back performance from last week, when he had three yards on 10 carries. Miami still gave Daniel Thomas eight carries Sunday and he ran for 30 yards (3.8 ypc). Miller should eventually leave Thomas in the dust.
Mike Wallace, WR9/15/2013 5:55:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace doesn't have anything to complain about after getting 11 targets Sunday against the Colts.
Insight: Wallace was locked down by Browns CB Joe Haden in Week 1 and had one reception on five targets. Afterwards, he expressed frustration with his lack of activity. Ryan Tannehill ended up going to Wallace three times for 46 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive and nine times for 115 yards in the game Sunday.
Mike Wallace, WRCold9/12/2013 12:58:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill said he won't "force" the ball to Mike Wallace, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: "I'm going to play the quarterback position the way the coaches install the plays," Tannehill said. "I'm going to go through the reads just like they install it. We're going to try and get him the ball when he's in the play, but we're not going to force him the ball." Wallace expressed frustration with getting just five targets and catching one pass in the opener against the Browns. He'll have an easier matchup in Week 2 against the Colts because he won't have to match up with Joe Haden.
Mike Wallace, WRCold9/8/2013 6:39:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Mike Wallace only made one catch on Sunday and he didn't seem too happy about it after the game.
Insight: "Ask coach. Not my game plan," he vented to reporters after the game. Obviously, Wallace and quarterback Ryan Tannehill still have a long way to go in terms of chemistry. Brian Hartline led the Dolphins with 114 receiving yards in Sunday's win over Cleveland.
Lamar Miller, RB9/8/2013 5:16:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller had a miserable day running the ball Sunday at Cleveland.
Insight: Daniel Thomas led the team in rushing yards with 14, which should tell you just how bad it was for the Dolphins' ground game Sunday. Miller finished with three yards on 10 carries, while Thomas had eight carries and stole a one-yard touchdown. Miller has a much easier matchup in Week 2 at Indianapolis.
Brian Hartline, WR9/8/2013 5:13:00 PM
Description: With Mike Wallace blanketed by nemesis Joe Haden, Brian Hartline drew 15 targets from Ryan Tannehill and finished with 114 yards and a touchdown on nine catches in the season opener against the Browns.
Insight: Hartline had 1,000 yards in 2012, but a good portion of them came in Week 4 at Arizona when he grabbed 12 passes for 253 yards. He has good chemistry with Tannehill, but the Dolphins didn't sign Wallace to have him be a decoy and also will not run the ball as poorly as they did Sunday (23 carries, 20 yards) every week.
Lamar Miller, RB9/2/2013 5:09:00 PM
Description: According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins' depth chart lists Lamar Miller as the Week 1 starter at tailback.
Insight: Miami has finally ended the charade that was the running back "competition" between Miller and Daniel Thomas. Miller is a RB2 with upside.
Lamar Miller, RB8/27/2013 5:05:00 PM
Description: Miami coach Joe Philbin was not ready to give Lamar Miller the starting running back job, even after Daniel Thomas rushed for three yards on seven carries and lost three yards on a first-and-goal Saturday against the Buccaneers. SOURCE: Miami Herald
Insight: Armando Salguero of the Herald says that it would be out of character for Philbin to talk up Thomas simply to motivate Miller and prevent him from getting too comfortable, so he's stumped as to why Thomas is still involved in this competition. We don't see it lasting much longer than the preseason, however; Miller is the guy.
Lamar Miller, RB8/20/2013 8:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins OC Mike Sherman reiterated how close Miami's competition for the starting running back job is Tuesday.
Insight: "I think Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas are competing neck-and-neck," Sherman said. Thomas hasn't shown anything in two NFL seasons (besides a fumbling problem) and Miller has track-star speed on a 5-foot-11, 212-pound frame, but the team has been reluctant to hand the reigns to Miller. The Dolphins might just be smokescreening fantasy owners, but Miller should be knocked down draft boards just a bit.
Dustin Keller, TE8/19/2013 9:24:00 PM
Description: Miami tight end Dustin Keller suffered a torn ACL, MCL, PCL and a dislocated knee during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans. SOURCE: Alex Marvez, Fox Sports 1
Insight: It's a devastating injury and one that could potentially put Keller's career in jeopardy. He'll be a free agent after this season.
Dustin Keller, TE8/18/2013 12:18:00 PM
Description: Multiple sources have confirmed that Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller is indeed out for the season.
Insight: Keller only played eight games last season so injuries have been a theme for him recently. It's unknown what Keller's exact injury is, though all signs point to a torn ACL.
Dustin Keller, TE8/18/2013 10:31:00 AM
Description: According to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1, Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller is "most likely" done for the season.
Insight: Keller injured his knee in Saturday's preseason game against Houston. Keller hasn't been given an official diagnosis yet but the fear is that he may have suffered a torn ACL. Considering that he only signed a one-year deal, it's possible that Keller may leave Miami without ever playing a regular season game.
Dustin Keller, TE8/17/2013 10:39:00 PM
Description: Miami tight end Dustin Keller hurt his knee in Saturday's preseason game versus Houston.
Insight: Keller had one catch for 14 yards before his injury. Considering the amount of pain he seemed to be in as he was being carted off the field, this injury looks like it could be pretty serious.
Lamar Miller, RB8/15/2013 4:20:00 PM
Description: Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland's comments Thursday indicate that the Dolphins will use a committee at running back with both Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas getting significant work, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: "I don’t think it’s just going to be Lamar’s position. We’ve got a good running back in Daniel Thomas that’s certainly making some noise." Thomas has proven himself to be an ordinary runner with fumbling issues and concussion problems, so we don't really know what the Dolphins see in him. We expect Miller to be the main back once the games count, regardless of what Ireland says now, but fantasy owners might want to pump the brakes on his mid-third-round ADP.
Caleb Sturgis, K8/14/2013 4:27:00 PM
Description: Miami will apparently go with rookie place-kicker Caleb Sturgis.
Insight: Sturgis was the first kicker selected in this year's NFL draft at No. 166. Against Jacksonville, he went 2-of-2 on field goals, including a 58-yarder, and 3-of-3 on extra points.
Dan Carpenter, K8/14/2013 4:23:00 PM
Description: Dolphins place-kicker Dan Carpenter has been released.
Insight: Miami will apparently go with rookie Caleb Sturgis. Against Jacksonville, Sturgis went 2-of-2 on field goals, including a 58-yarder, and 3-of-3 on extra points.
Lamar Miller, RB8/11/2013 4:41:00 PM
Description: Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman said Sunday that the running back competition is "pretty close," according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: Lamar Miller has seemingly been in the lead since the spring, but apparently Daniel Thomas, who has a career 3.5 ypc average, is still in the hunt. We expect Miller to win the job, but Sherman's comments might cause Miller's risky early third-round ADP to drop a bit. Miller has rushed for 27 yards on four carries through two preseason games, while Thomas has 24 yards on eight carries.
Jonas Gray, RB8/10/2013 2:50:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Jonas Gray displayed some good moves in the Dolphins' exhibition game on Friday night rushing for 32 yards and two scores.
Insight: Gray is trying to beat out Mike Gillislee for the No. 3 role behind Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas. At 223 lbs, he could have use in short-yardage and goal line situations, but he's unlikely to have much fantasy value this season.
Reshad Jones, S8/5/2013 7:48:00 PM
Description: Miami strong safety Reshad Jones has agreed to a four-year, $30 million contract extension. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Jones was a beast last season, reeling in four interceptions while recovering two fumbles. His 94 tackles in 2012 led all Dolphins defensive backs.
Mike Wallace, WR8/1/2013 7:57:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace has sat out the last few days of training camp with a groin injury and is questionable for Sunday's Hall of Fame game, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: Wallace hasn't practiced since he was surprisingly absent from Monday night's scrimmage. The receiver has been slow to develop chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill, according to multiple reports, and being away from the field won't help that process.
Lamar Miller, RB7/29/2013 6:54:00 PM
Description: Based on Dolphins coach Joe Philbin's comments Monday, running back Lamar Miller could be ready to take on a three-down role, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: "He has good instincts as a runner," Philbin said about Miller. "Has very, very good athletic ability. Has good speed. He can pass protect. It took him a little while to get the responsibilities down, the blitz adjustments down. At the end of the year, he was very sound in his pass protection. He has good hands, can catch the football." Miller's ADP has been steadily climbing over the last two weeks, and he is now being selected in the early third round of fantasyfootballcalculator.com mock drafts.
Mike Wallace, WR7/24/2013 3:10:00 PM
Description: Multiple reports are saying that Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace and quarterback Ryan Tannehill have yet to develop much chemistry.
Insight: Its way too early to worry. There are weeks of training camp and a few exhibition games to get it together before we would consider a change to either player's expected fantasy value.
Lamar Miller, RB6/4/2013 6:40:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill said Tuesday that Lamar Miller is the team's starting running back for 2013, according to NFL.com.
Insight: Miller was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft and only received 51 carries in 13 games with Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas in front of him on the depth chart. Bush is in Detroit, and Thomas hasn't proven to be anything more than a concussion-prone plodder in two years. The team drafted Mike Gillislee in the fifth round this season, but he's not expected to challenge Miller's starting job.
Jasper Collins, WR4/28/2013 11:23:00 AM
Description: Following the in the footsteps of Pierre Garcon and Cecil Shorts is Mount Union receiver Jasper Collins who was signed as a free agent by the Miami Dolphins.
Insight: Collins is just 5-foot-10, 180 lbs, but posted 1,694 yards and 22 TDs in his senior season. He ran a 4.47 at his Pro Day and might be one to watch down the road. The Dolphins are making a big effort to surround second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill with receiving talent (Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson, Dustin Keller).
Davone Bess, WR4/24/2013 9:36:00 PM
Description: Draftinsider's Tony Pauline believes there's a "99.9 percent" chance the Dolphins will trade wide receiver Davone Bess to Cleveland for draft picks.
Insight: Bess (61 catches, 778 yards, one TD in 2012) would be more of a fantasy asset in Cleveland than he would be if he stayed in Miami. The Browns are expected to give up a mid-round draft choice as part of the trade.
