Final Score: Phoenix 4, Edmonton 3 (OT)
Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Keith Yandle contributed two goals that included the game-winner with 6.5 seconds left in overtime to give the Phoenix Coyotes a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Yandle stripped the puck from an Oiler in the Coyotes zone and raced up the left side and drove in on net to wrist the shot through the arm of Ilya Bryzgalov for the win.
"I tired to take pride in being a guy that you need a goal when you're down," said Yandle. "But it's not just me, all the guys here work really hard and we're going to keep going forward here."
Tim Kennedy and Mikkel Boedker supplied the other two goals for Phoenix. Mike Smith allowed three goals on 10 shots and was pulled in the second. Thomas Greiss turned aside all 15 shots he faced in relief to allow Phoenix to halt a three-game skid.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, David Perron, and Justin Schultz scored for the Oilers and Taylor Hall contributed three assists. Bryzgalov gave up four goals on 44 shots in Edmonton's second straight loss.
"We managed to find our game and get a lead, we played them pretty well I thought," said Perron. "But we let the goalie down because he played really well for us."
Yandle opened the scoring after gathering a turnover in the offensive zone and firing a wrister into the net from the left circle 10:59 into the first.
Edmonton tied it with 1:10 to go in the period. Nugent-Hopkins backhanded the puck past Smith for his 11th of the season.
25 seconds into the second, the Oilers took a 2-1 lead on a wrist shot from Perron on the breakaway.
Hall skated into the Phoenix zone and drew defenders over to him. He threw a pass up to a streaking Schultz through the slot, who wristed the puck past Bryzgalov for a 3-1 Edmonton lead 6:44 into the second.
The Coyotes cut the deficit to one when Kennedy fired a shot from below the goal line that ricocheted off Bryzgalov's skate and into the net with 7:55 remaining in the second.
Phoenix tied the game with 1:10 left with the goalie pulled. After winning the faceoff, Mike Ribeiro found Radim Vrbata in the slot, who slap-passed the puck to Boedker in front of the net. Boedker passed the puck over to Yandle at his left, but he sent it right back to him on a give-and-go to tap in an open net.
Roman Horak played in his first game as an Edmonton Oiler, since being acquired in a trade with Calgary Nov. 8th ... Nail Yakupov was a healthy scratch for Edmonton ... The Coyotes have won all three games between the two teams this season.
