Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Unrestricted free-agent defenseman Rob Scuderi returned to a familiar location on Friday, signing a four-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
No financial terms were disclosed, but the deal carries an average annual value of $3.375 million for the duration.
The 34-year-old returns to the club which selected him in the fifth round of the 1998 draft as a two-time Stanley Cup champion, adding one with Los Angeles in 2012 to the first he won with the Pens back in 2009.
Scuderi totaled one goal and 11 assists in 48 regular-season appearances with the Kings this past season, while contributing three helpers in 18 playoff games as the defending champions reached the third round.
A national championship winner during his senior season at Boston College, Scuderi will once again be teammates with Brooks Orpik, a fellow former Eagle and current Penguin.
The native of Long Island has gained 585 games of NHL experience since 2003, totaling 79 assists and 86 points for the Penguins (2003-09) and Kings (2009-13).
