Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes activated goaltender Dan Ellis from injured reserve on Monday.
Ellis had been out of action due to a lower-body injury suffered in a March 21 game against the New Jersey Devils. The 32-year-old was 4-5-1 with a 2.65 goals-against average and one shutout before the setback.
To make room on the roster, the club assigned goaltender John Muse to Charlotte of the American Hockey League. Muse had been recalled from Charlotte to back up Justin Peters while Ellis was hurt, but did not see any game action.
The Hurricanes are also without goaltender Cam Ward because of a sprained knee.
