Islanders place Carkner on IR Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Islanders on Friday placed defenseman Matt Carkner on injured reserve with a groin injury. The move is retroactive to Feb. 6. Carkner has zero points and 20 penalty minutes in nine games this season, his first with the Islanders.
