Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Dan Carpenter kicked five field goals and
Ricky Williams added a fourth-quarter touchdown, as the Miami Dolphins beat
the Cincinnati Bengals, 22-14, at Paul Brown Stadium.
Chad Henne completed 24-of-37 tosses for 217 yards and one interception for
the Dolphins (4-3), who have yet to lose on the road in four tries this
Carson Palmer connected on 17-of-38 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns,
both of them to Terrell Owens, but his last attempt was picked off by Miami
cornerback Sean Smith, halting a potential game-tying drive late in the fourth
The Bengals (2-5) have lost four straight games.
With Miami trailing 14-12 at halftime, Carpenter made a 31-yard field goal
with 2:47 remaining in the third quarter and Williams ran for a one-yard score
that was upheld following a challenge by Cincinnati to give Miami an eight-
"We didn't do a good enough job in the second half. We allowed them to drive
the field," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said.
The Bengals punted the ball away on their next possession, but got the ball
back after the Dolphins went three-and-out.
Facing a 4th-and-1 from his own 30-yard line, Cincinnati running back Cedric
Benson kept the drive alive with a five-yard run. The Bengals then converted
three consecutive third downs, the last one aided by a roughing the passer
penalty that set Cincinnati up at the Miami 22. Palmer couldn't hook up with
Chad Ochocinco over the middle on first down and his next toss landed in the
hands of Smith, sealing the win for Miami.
The Bengals got the ball to begin the game and Owens capped a 15-play drive
with a seven-yard touchdown.
The Dolphins marched into Cincinnati territory on their first possession
before stalling at the 20. Carpenter made a 38-yard field goal to put the
visitors on the board with 2:16 remaining in the opening quarter. The third-
year kicker drilled a 42-yarder early in the second stanza to trim Miami's
deficit to one.
Later in the quarter, the Bengals converted a Henne interception into a 37-
yard scoring strike from Palmer to Owens, who hauled in a deflected ball that
was nearly picked off by Miami's Chris Clemons.
Carpenter kicked a 24-yard field goal inside the final minute, then ended the
first half by hammering a 54-yarder through the uprights.
"Carpenter did a great job kicking it through the uprights," Henne said. "The
biggest thing is just coming away with points."
Ronnie Brown gained 61 yards on 16 carries for the Dolphins, while Williams
recorded 47 yards on the ground...Miami's Brandon Marshall had 64 yards on
five receptions...Benson rushed for 69 yards on 20 carries...Owens caught five
passes for 65 yards.
