Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Eagles announced Wednesday that the club has signed stud left tackle Jason Peters to a new five-year contract.
The deal, which runs through 2018, is reportedly worth $51.3 million with $19.55 million guaranteed. Peters had one year left on his previous contract.
The 32-year-old Peters returned to Pro Bowl form in 2013, starting all 16 games after missing the entire 2012 season with an Achilles injury. He anchored an offensive line that paved the way for LeSean McCoy, who amassed a franchise-best 1,607 rushing yards.
"There aren't many people cut from the same cloth as Jason Peters," Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said in a statement. "To be able to bounce back from two Achilles injuries and return to an All-Pro level speaks not only to his incredible athleticism, but proves just how hard he works at his game. Having him at left tackle provides a lot of comfort to our quarterback and to our entire offense. He's a guy that many players look up to in our locker room."
A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Peters has started all but 10 of the 123 career games in which he has played with the Eagles and Buffalo Bills.
