Dallas Mavericks (10-6) at Atlanta Hawks (8-8), 7:30 p.m.
(SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks will try to halt a three-game slide
Friday night when they complete their season series with the Dallas Mavericks
at Philips Arena.
The Hawks have fallen to the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic at home, then
lost to the Houston Rockets, 113-84 in Houston.
"I think their defense was good," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said of the
Without Kyle Korver, Lou Williams and Shelvin Mack due to injury, the Hawks
shot 42.7 percent from the field and committed 18 turnovers.
Paul Millsap led the Hawks with 16 points, followed by 14 apiece from Al
Horford and Cartier Martin, who started in place of Korver. John Jenkins
scored 13 off the bench.
Jeff Teague, who's had an amazing season, only managed four points.
If Korver can play (he's listed as to be determined with a rib contusion), he
can match Dana Barros' NBA record for most consecutive games with a made 3-
pointer. Korver stands at 88 straight.
The Mavericks snapped a two-game losing streak Wednesday with a 103-99 home
victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Turnovers were the story in the Golden State victory. The Warriors committed
19 miscues, which led to 30 Dallas points. The Mavs only had six turnovers
that translated into seven Warriors points.
Dallas' bench was fantastic on Wednesday. Jae Crowder scored 12 points, while
DeJuan Blair chipped in 11. Vince Carter, Wayne Ellington and rookie Shane
Larkin combined for 20 points.
Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 22 points. Jose Calderon scored 12 points as
both Samuel Dalembert and Shawn Marion registered 11 points.
Noticeably absent from a high-scoring night was Monta Ellis. The team's
leading scorer and eighth-best in the league went 2-for-16 from the field for
just four points.
"Hey, momma said there'd be nights like this. The biggest thing is we got the
win," Ellis said. "It's a long season. I've had shooting nights like this. But
Coach (Carlisle) still wanted me to be aggressive. I made plays for others and
we got the win."
Ellis did hand out 10 assists.
The Mavs beat the Hawks on opening night, 118-109 in Dallas. The two teams
have split their last six meetings in Atlanta.
