Boston Celtics (4-10) at Atlanta Hawks (8-5), 7:30 p.m.
(SportsNetwork.com) - Since the Boston Celtics evened their record at 4-4,
they haven't reached the win column.
The Celtics hope to stop a season-high six-game losing streak when they invade
Philips Arena Saturday night to take on the Atlanta Hawks.
Boston's losing streak continued with Friday's 97-82 home loss versus the
Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Pacers. Boston, which shot 59 percent
through 24 minutes, blew a 50-42 lead at halftime and was outscored, 25-8, in
the third quarter.
"Sometimes when you play with that level of energy and emotion in the first
half, it's hard to sustain it," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said.
The Celtics committed 23 turnovers for 30 Indiana points and were led by
Jordan Crawford's 24 points. Jeff Green scored 20 points and Jared Sullinger
posted 13 for the Celtics, who made 50.7 percent of their shots and have lost
by double digits in five straight games.
Boston will try to stop a three-game road slide and has Charlotte to visit
after clashing with Atlanta. Rookie center Kelly Olynyk left Friday's game
with an ankle sprain and is day-to-day.
The Hawks are coming off a home-and-home sweep of the Detroit Pistons and have
won four of five and six of their last eight games. In Friday's 96-89 victory
at Detroit, Jeff Teague led the way with 18 points and Al Horford added 17 to
go along with 11 rebounds.
"They (Detroit) play well at home," said Horford. "This was a big win for us
to be able to come in here on the road (after) disappointing them on Wednesday
and being able to win again tonight."
Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver netted 14 points apiece and the latter finished
4-for-6 from 3-point territory. Korver extended his streak of consecutive
games with a made 3-pointer to 86 and the all-time NBA mark of 89 belongs to
Atlanta finished with 20 assists and maintained its streak of at least 20
assists per game in every game this season.
The Hawks have won two in a row at home and are 4-1 as the host. They will
welcome Orlando to town on Tuesday. Guard Lou Williams (rest) did not play
Friday and could return versus the Celtics. Williams is still recovering from
knee surgery and is four games shy of 500 in his career.
Boston took three of four meetings with Atlanta last season.
