Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Al Jefferson continued his dominating play with 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Charlotte Bobcats pounded the Philadelphia 76ers, 123-93, on Wednesday.
Jefferson was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for his impressive performance in March. He ranked fifth in the NBA in scoring (24.7 ppg) and ninth in rebounding (10.6 rpg) in March while shooting 55.5 percent from the floor.
Anthony Tolliver scored 16 points, Gary Neal added 15 and Gerald Henderson and Chris Douglas-Roberts finished with 14 points apiece for the Bobcats, who are 4 1/2 games ahead of the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Hawks lost to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, while the Knicks beat Brooklyn.
Michael Carter-Williams had 22 points seven rebounds and Henry Sims added 15 points and six boards for the Sixers, who have dropped two straight since snapping their 26-game losing streak on Saturday.
"I respect the route that program has taken to end up where it is," Brett Brown said of the Bobcats. "It was a good example for our guys. That is a team that is going to the playoffs. That is a team that competes and executes."
The Bobcats jumped out to a 20-9 edge and took a 31-19 lead into the second period. Jefferson had 13 points in the frame as the Bobcats shot 63.2 percent from the floor in the period.
The Charlotte spread reached as high as 27 points late in the second and the Bobcats carried a 63-38 lead into the break.
Philadelphia recorded just 12 rebounds in the first half, tying a season low for rebounds in a half.
The Bobcats continued to pour it on in the third, as their lead hovered around 27 points for the duration of the frame. The Sixers never got closer than 23 in the fourth.
"They scored at a far greater level than we expected," Brown said.
Charlotte outrebounded the Sixers 47-32 ... Jefferson has a franchise record 23 games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds ... Elliot Williams finished with 12 points and Thaddeus Young added 11 for the Sixers.
