Description: Oakland relief pitcher Edward Mujica suffered a fractured right thumb in Thursday's game and is expected to be placed on the disabled list.
Insight: Mujica had pitched in 16 games this season with a 2-1 record, 3.32 ERA and 1.16 WHIP, but has little fantasy value.

Description: Red Sox relief pitcher Edward Mujica earned his fourth save of the season on Saturday as the Red Sox held off the Blue Jays, 4-3.
Insight: Mujica came into the ninth inning with one out. He worked around a two-out walk to Jose Bautista to record the save. Koji Uehara has apparently hit a wall, so the closing duties seem to be falling to Mujica for the rest of the season. Pick up Mujica if you can.

Description: Boston right-hander Edward Mujica will fill in at closer until Koji Uehara rests over the next few days.
Insight: Mujica hasn't exactly lit it up, going 2-4 with a 4.13 ERA and 1.357 WHIP. He's earned three saves this season and blown one. He has experience in the closer's role having notched 37 saves in 2013 for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Description: Boston right-hander Edward Mujica will fill in at closer until Koji Uehara heals from a stiff shoulder.
Insight: Mujica had one very poor outing against Milwaukee (4 H, 4 ER in 2/3 of an inning) but has looked sharp in his other three appearances. He's definitely worth adding, especially if Uehara lands on the disabled list.

Insight: Mujica got off to a nice start last season (2.20 ERA, 26 saves before the All-Star break) but fell apart in the second half (11.05 ERA in September). If he returns to his pre-All-Star break form, he'll be a solid addition to what is already one of the stronger bullpens in the major leagues. Mujica won't be a candidate to close unless Koji Uehara gets injured.

Description: Edward Mujica made the Cardinals' postseason roster by the skin of his teeth. Despite making the final 25-man roster, Mujica won't be used as the team's closer. SOURCE: Jayson Stark, ESPN
Insight: Mujica lost his stranglehold on the closer position with a brutal September (11.05 ERA in 10 appearances). For now, the Cards will go with flamethrower Trevor Rosenthal in the ninth inning. Among National League relief pitchers, only Aroldis Chapman has thrown the ball harder than Rosenthal this season (average fastball is 96.4 mph).

Description: Jenifer Langosch of reports that the Cardinals closer situation with be "fluid" for the rest of the season.
Insight: Edward Mujica has blown two saves and allowed 15 hits and seven earned runs in 6 2/3 innings this month. Trevor Rosenthal could be the first choice for manager Mike Matheny, but John Axford and Kevin Siegrist also could see save chances.

Description: Cardinals closer Edward Mujica is dealing with soreness behind his right shoulder and is questionable for Friday's game against Atlanta, according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report.
Insight: Mujica has been an excellent find this season posting 33 saves with a 1.77 ERA and .804 WHIP. He had four career saves heading into 2013 and wasn't on most fantasy owners' radar, but has become a fantasy star.

Description: Cardinals closer Edward Mujica is dealing with soreness behind his right shoulder near his trapezius, but he said he isn't concerned. SOURCE:
Insight: Mujica sat out the entire weekend series against the Cubs with arm fatigue and had to be checked on by manager Mike Matheny and the trainer in the ninth inning Wednesday afternoon. "Yeah, he looked like he just didn't feel right, so you see that you've got to go find out," Matheny said. "We're just going to continue to keep our eyes on it and we'll give him days when we can. We've given him a few. Let the doctors -- the medical team -- get their hands on him again, just keep working on him and see what we have to deal with." Mujica allowed a homer shortly after the visit but closed out the win for his 33rd save. If he needs time off, Trevor Rosenthal (2.58 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 86 K in 59 1/3 IP) would likely get the save chances.

Description: Cardinals closer Edward Mujica has picked up a save in each of the last three days.
Insight: Mujica has four saves since becoming the closer on April 18. He hasn't allowed a baserunner in his last three games.

Description: St. Louis reliever Edward Mujica closed out Philadelphia Thursday for his first save of the season.
Insight: There had been some rumors that Mujica would be taking over the closer role with both Mitchell Boggs and Trevor Rosenthal struggling. Mujica is no sure thing either, as he gave up two hits in the ninth inning Thursday, but he has a 1.10 ERA in 32 2/3 innings since joining the Cardinals from the Marlins last summer.
5/3/2012 9:03:00 PM
Description: Edward Mujica collected his first save of the season Thursday in a 3-2 win over the Giants.
Insight: Heath Bell didn't get the call Thursday, probably because he had pitched three days in a row prior to that. So expect Bell to be back on Friday but now you know that if Bell does end up losing the closer's job (his ERA is 11.74 and he's just 3-for-6 in save chances this year) Mujica (0-2, 3.65) will probably be next in line for the Marlins.
5/14/2011 7:11:00 AM
Description: Marlins RP Edward Mujica pitched a scoreless inning to vulture his 4th win of the year.
Insight: If you are in need of wins and don't have a lot of innings to spare, Mujica could be worth a look.
