Chicago Cubs (63-89) at Milwaukee Brewers (68-83), 2:10 p.m.
Probable Starting Pitchers: Chicago - Jake Arrieta (3-4, 5.49) Milwaukee - Kyle Lohse (10-9, 3.46)
(Sports Network) - Right-hander Jake Arrieta makes his eighth start in a Chicago uniform on Thursday afternoon when the Cubs travel to Miller Park to finish out a four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Cubs have dropped the first three in the get-together, the most recent coming Wednesday night when Tyler Thornburg tossed six scoreless innings and Sean Halton hit a grand slam in a five-run first frame as Milwaukee blanked Chicago, 7-0.
Khris Davis added a solo homer and scored twice, with Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Gomez driving in a run each for the Brewers, who have won four in a row overall. Thornburg (3-1) allowed only two hits and a pair of walks while striking out four, turning in his second start of the season where he held an opponent scoreless.
Chris Rusin (2-5) was tagged for four hits and six runs over four full frames for the Cubs, losers of five straight and seven of eight.
Arrieta was fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Orioles in 2007 and appeared in 69 games with them through mid-June, before he was dealt to Chicago for starter Scott Feldman.
Arrieta was 1-2 in five appearances with the Orioles this season and is 2-2 in seven outings with the Cubs, including a six-inning outing against the Brewers on July 30 in which he gave up two hits and a run in six innings.
Milwaukee ultimately won the game, 3-2.
Arrieta allowed three earned runs on six hits in five innings of his most recent start, a no-decision in the Cubs' 5-4 win at Pittsburgh on Sept. 13.
He faces veteran righty Kyle Lohse, who pitched the ninth complete game of his career in his most recent start on Sept. 13.
The 34-year-old was a 5-1 winner over Cincinnati after hurling that gem, in which he surrendered just four hits and a run while walking one and striking out five.
It was his 10th victory of the season and marked the sixth time in his major league career that he'd reached double digit wins.
One start earlier, Lohse dropped an 8-5 verdict to the Cubs at Wrigley Field, where he was roughed up for 11 hits and seven runs in five innings.
The Brewers won 10 of the first 15 games with the Cubs this season, after winning the 2012 season series 13-4.
