San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Lincecum's terrific stretch
continued on Friday, as he tossed seven scoreless innings and guided the San
Francisco Giants to a 5-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of a
Lincecum (9-5) yielded just three hits and walked two with six strikeouts to
win his fourth straight start. The stretch started with his second career no-
hitter on June 25 against the Padres.
"I just know how hard it is to get to that point and you never take it for
granted when you're in it. You try to ride it as long as you can," Lincecum
said. "I'm going to ride this wave as long as it goes."
The two-time Cy Young award winner has surrendered just one run on 10 hits
over his last four outings in 30 1/3 innings.
Juan Gutierrez pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief and Jeremy Affeldt finished the
Pablo Sandoval went 3-for-4 with a homer and three runs batted in for the
Giants, winners in two of three.
Arizona starter Mike Bolsinger (1-6) was roughed up for all five runs on eight
hits over five innings of work. Martin Prado extended his season-high hit
streak to 10 games with a second-inning double.
"When you're in the middle of the plate, they're going to make you pay for it,
which they did tonight," said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson.
The Giants jumped all over Arizona, plating a pair of runs in each of the
first two innings.
Sandoval followed Brandon Belt's single in the home first with a two-run homer
to right field.
Bolsinger allowed singles to Tyler Colvin and Brandon Crawford around a Joe
Panik walk in the second. Crawford's base knock brought Colvin around from
second and Panik raced home on Lincecum's sacrifice bunt one batter later.
Hunter Pence singled and scored on Sandoval's double to left in the fifth
inning for the final spread.
Lincecum had lost his last five home starts against Arizona. He's won four
straight for the first time since April 2010, and has fanned six batters in
all four starts ... The Giants moved to 7-4 against Arizona this season ...
Prior to the game, Arizona activated Mark Trumbo off the 15-day disabled list
and optioned outfielder Roger Kieschnick to Triple-A Reno. Trumbo finished 1-
for-4 in his return ... San Francisco outhit Arizona, 10-5.
