Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics acquired outfielder Corey Brown from the Washington Nationals on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.
Brown batted .254 with 19 home runs and 56 RBI in 107 games at Triple-A Syracuse last season to earn a September call-up to Washington, where he hit .167 with one homer and one RBI in 14 games.
The 28-year-old Brown was selected in the first round (59th overall) by the A's back in 2007, but was traded to the Nationals on Dec. 16, 2010.
Over parts of three seasons with Washington, Brown has batted .175 with two homers and four RBI in 36 games.
