Lake Buena Vista, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Francisco Giants have signed outfielder Mike Morse to a one-year deal. According to reports the pact is worth $5 million plus incentives and is pending a physical.
Morse began last season with the Seattle Mariners, but struggled while dealing with finger and quad injuries. He was then moved to Baltimore for the stretch run.
In 88 total games, though, he compiled a .215 average with 13 homers and 27 RBI.
He had averaged 24.5 home runs and 78.5 runs batted in his previous two seasons including a breakout year in 2011 with Washington that saw him bat .303 with 31 home runs, 36 doubles and 95 RBI in a career-best 146 games.
Morse, who has started games at six different positions during his big-league career, is a lifetime .281 hitter with 83 home runs and 272 RBI over 573 games with the Mariners, Nationals and Orioles.
