Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright corralled 12 passes for 150 yards on 20 targets in Week 15 against the Cardinals.
Insight: Wright failed to reach 69 yards in a game for the first time since Sept. 29 last week, but he came back and put up a huge game Sunday to go over 1,000 yards for the first time. With two games left, he has 85 catches, 1,007 yards and two scores.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker (concussion) practiced Wednesday, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.
Insight: Walker had emerged as one of Ryan Fitzpatrick's top targets with 19 catches for 199 yards and two scores between Weeks 10 and 12 before suffering a concussion in Week 13 and missing Week 14. The Cardinals have allowed 4.0 more fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends than any other team in the NFL this season, which puts Walker on the TE1 radar this week.
Description: It sounds like the Titans are going to cut Chris Johnson after the season. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Insight: They'll probably try to trade Johnson first but it's doubtful anyone would be willing to take him given his enormous salary. Johnson is actually having a pretty good season but he doesn't fit the team's plans for rebuilding.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker (concussion) was not able to practice Thursday, his second straight day on the sidelines
Insight: Walker will have to pass concussion tests before he's cleared to play Sunday against the Broncos and that is looking less and less likely. Prior to his concussion, Walker had emerged as one of Ryan Fitzpatrick's top targets and had 19 catches for 199 yards and two scores from Weeks 10-12.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker (concussion) was not able to practice Wednesday, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.
Insight: Walker will have to pass concussion tests before he's cleared to play Sunday against the Broncos. Prior to his concussion, Walker had emerged as one of Ryan Fitzpatrick's top targets and had 19 catches for 199 yards and two scores from Weeks 10-12.
Description: According to ESPN's John Clayton, Titans tight end Delanie Walker has been ruled out for Sunday's game due to a concussion.
Insight: Walker emerged as a decent fantasy option for tight-end needy owners over the previous three games, catching 19 of his 27 targets for 199 yards and two touchdowns. He'll finish with one catch for five yards Sunday.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright (ankle) got in a full practice session Thursday, according to John Glennon of the Tennessean.
Insight: Wright caught his first touchdown since Week 2 and had his first 100-yard game of the year Sunday at Oakland. He's had at least 69 receiving yards in each of the last seven games, making him a reliable WR3 in Week 13 against the Colts.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright left Sunday's game against Oakland with a foot injury.
Insight: Wright had managed two catches for 54 yards. He had caught 16 balls over the past two weeks and caught the eye of many fantasy owners. They like his receptions per game average, but not his limited ability to get into the end zone. He has just one touchdown catch this season - in Week 2.
Description: Titans wideout Kenny Britt is still not part of the offense these days.
Insight: That's in case you hadn't been paying attention. Britt was on the field for just 13 of 54 plays and didn't see the ball on any of them. Kendall Wright, Nate Washington and tight end Delanie Walker are the Titans primary receivers.
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson had another solid week running the ball, his second in three games.
Insight: Johnson posted two first quarter touchdown runs and it looked like he might explode for one of those monster games, but the Titans only ran him four times in the second half and the Colts clamped down on him to hold him to six yards after the break.
Description: According to the Titans official Twitter, coach Mike Munchak confirmed Monday that Jake Locker will miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury.
Insight: The Titans are still deciding on surgery option for the quarterback. During his two seasons as the starter, Locker has missed games seven games due to a torn non-throwing shoulder and a hip injury. Now, he'll miss the final seven games of the 2013 season due to a foot injury.
Description: Tennessee QB Jake Locker suffered a foot injury in the first half Sunday against Jacksonville.
Insight: Originally it looked like it might have been a leg injury or even a recurrence of a hip ailment he had earlier in the year. With Locker doubtful to return, Harvard product Ryan Fitzpatrick will be asked to lead the offense.
Description: Titans QB Jake Locker is back in the locker room with four minutes left in the second quarter.
Insight: It appeared to be a leg injury and may not have been a re-injury of his hip which cost him games earlier this season. His return is questionable. Ryan Fitzpatrick would be the Titans' backup uption.
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson broke out of a slump Sunday against the Rams.
Insight: Johnson carried the ball 23 times and rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. His long gain was just 24 yards, but he picked up big chunks of yardage on most of his carries. As we've been saying for several weeks, the Titans faced an extremely tough schedule in the first seven weeks of the season but now get a string of soft run defenses.
Description: While Titans coach Mike Munchak said Wednesday he'd like to get Shonn Greene 15 carries per game going forward, he also said he'd like Chris Johnson to get 20. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, Tennessean
Insight: Johnson has averaged just 11.5 carries the last four games and 16.4 per game for the season, so having two backs receive 15 carries would be a huge change for the Titans. We expect Johnson to continue to see around 15 total touches with Shonn Greene handling the ball 7-10 times and getting the goal-line carries. Johnson has one of his best matchups of the season in Week 9 against St. Louis, but he can only be counted on as a flex option this week.
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson only had nine carries for 39 yards on the ground Sunday against the 49ers but he added a 66-yard receiving touchdown and finished with 71 yards on four catches.
Insight: The Titans fell behind 24-0 and had to air it out. Johnson has been terrible running the ball this season, picking up a total of 366 yards and zero TDs on 115 carries (3.2 ypc). However, the team opposed some tough run defenses early this season -- it faced Pittsburgh, Houston, San Diego, the New York Jets, Kansas City, Seattle and San Francisco the first seven games -- and will now take on St. Louis, Jacksonville, Indianapolis twice and Oakland over the next five games. The time is now to buy low on Johnson, especially since Tennessee has a bye in Week 8.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright caught nine passes for 98 yards Sunday against the 49ers.
Insight: Wright has been consistent, catching at least five passes for 54 yards in each of the last six games. He only has one touchdown, which came back in Week 2, so he's better suited for PPR leagues.
Description: Titans QB Jake Locker should be back in the lineup Sunday against the Niners. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL.com
Insight: That means it's back to the bench for Ryan Fitzpatrick. Locker missed two games with a sprained hip but recovered much quicker than expected. He hasn't thrown an interception yet this season and his 99.0 QB rating was one of the league's best at the time of his injury.
Description: Tennessee quarterback Jake Locker will be a game-time decision Sunday against the 49ers. Locker, who returned to practice this week, has been dealing with a sprained hip. SOURCE: John Clayton, ESPN
Insight: Locker's original timetable for a return was 4-to-8 weeks so the fact that he could be back in only three is a huge win for the Titans. Tennessee has lost two in a row with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center though both losses were against excellent teams (6-0 Kansas City and 6-1 Seattle).
Description: The Titans would accept a third-round pick for wideout Kenny Britt. SOURCE: CBS Sports
Insight: That's not likely to attract many suitors. Britt's value is at an all-time low right now and Tennessee might be stuck with him until he inevitably leaves in free agency. Perhaps if the Titans lower their asking price, someone will eventually be willing to take Britt off their hands.
Description: Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains says the team needs to get Chris Johnson more involved in the passing game, according to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com.
Insight: Fantasy owners would appreciate that since Johnson has rushed for just 294 yards and no touchdowns on 94 carries, including 38 yards on 25 carries the last two weeks. Johnson did have four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Chiefs, but he only has eight receptions for 75 yards all season. We still like Johnson to pick up his production when the Titans play at St. Louis, versus Jacksonville, versus Indianapolis, at Oakland and at Indianapolis from Weeks 9-13, but he'll have to muddle through matchups at Seattle and versus San Francisco the next two weeks. Some designed pass plays for Johnson would help.
Description: Tennessee running Chris Johnson once again struggled to find any running room Sunday against the Chiefs but had a big receiving game to save fantasy owners.
Insight: Johnson had 17 rushing yards on 10 carries but added four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown through the air. It was his first score of any kind in five games this season. The Titans have played a tough schedule and have two more rough games -- at Seattle and versus San Francisco -- before the bye week, but after it play at St. Louis, against Jacksonville, against Indianapolis, at Oakland and at Indianapolis from Weeks 9-13. Johnson should be able to provide big numbers against those opponents.
Description: According to titansonline.com, Jake Locker's MRI revealed no major damage to his hip joint.
Insight: Locker's injury is classified as a sprained hip. He won't require surgery and has already begun a rehab routine for both his hip and knee injuries. The team still expects him to miss "a few weeks," but he could be back closer to four weeks than eight.
Description: Tennessee quarterback Jake Locker could miss 4-8 weeks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Locker was in the middle of a great game when he suffered a hip injury and was carted off the field Sunday against the Jets. Ryan Fitzpatrick will start in his place Sunday against the undefeated Chiefs.
Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Titans are looking to deal wideout Kenny Britt before the trade deadline.
Insight: Britt is in the last year of his contract and the Titans don't appear interested in re-signing him. It's going to be a tough sell as Britt has only produced five catches and 43 yards in three games this season. This week, Britt (rib and neck injuries) will be a game-time decision against the Jets.
Description: Titans receiver Kenny Britt is questionable for Sunday's game due to a fractured rib, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.
Insight: Britt said he expects to play, but the receiver did not do as much during Thursday's practice as the team thought he would. The fourth-year receiver has fallen behind Nate Washington and Kendall Wright on the Titans depth chart and has just five catches on 16 targets for 43 yards through the first three games.
Description: Titans receiver Kenny Britt has a slight rib fracture but expects to play Sunday against the Jets. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, Tennessean
Insight: Another injury is the last thing Britt needed. The fourth-year receiver has fallen behind Nate Washington and Kendall Wright on the Titans depth chart and has just five catches on 16 targets for 43 yards through the first three games.
Description: Tennessee receiver Nate Washington pulled down eight catches for 131 yards Sunday against the Chargers.
Insight: Washington was targeted 10 times in the game after being thrown to 12 times in the previous two. He's likely to be an inconsistent fantasy option with Jake Locker at quarterback, but it's clear Washington and Kendall Wright (6-71) should be owned ahead of Kenny Britt (0 receptions).
Description: Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker scampered for 68 yards and a touchdown on five carries and threw for 299 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Chargers.
Insight: Locker has led the Titans to a surprising 2-1 record and they very well could be 3-0 if they hadn't blown a lead against the Texans in Week 2. The third-year QB has zero turnovers but only three passing touchdowns and 572 passing yards in three games so he isn't yet on the QB2 radar.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright missed practice Wednesday because of concussion-like symptoms. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, The Tennessean
Insight: Wright had a solid game last week against Houston (seven grabs, 54 yards, one TD) though consistency has been a problem for him early in his career. Consider him questionable for Sunday's tilt against the Chargers.
Description: Tennessee halfback Shonn Greene is unlikely to play Sunday versus Houston. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL.com
Insight: He injured his knee in last week's win over Pittsburgh and wasn't able to practice all week. Greene isn't the featured back in Tennessee (that role belongs to Chris Johnson) but he does get goal line work, which makes him somewhat relevant in fantasy. Jackie Battle will fill his role today against a tough Texans run defense.
Description: Titans receiver Kenny Britt only had two targets Sunday.
Insight: He caught one pass for 15 yards. Titans quarterback Jake Locker has done nothing to inspire confidence in his 17 career games, so it's unlikely Britt will be a starting-caliber fantasy wideout this season.
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson gutted out 70 yards on 25 carries (long run of 11 yards) Sunday against the Steelers, but he lost a goal-line touchdown to Jackie Battle.
Insight: Losing goal-line work to Shonn Greene (left Sunday's game with an injury) or Battle could hurt Johnson's fantasy value in a big way, especially because the Titans play some tough run defenses early in the year that will prevent big plays. Including Pittsburgh, Johnson will face five top-10 rush defenses from 2012 in the first seven weeks.
Description: Titans backup running back Shonn Greene left the season opener in the second quarter with a knee injury.
Insight: He'll back up Chris Johnson and provide some short yardage and power running, but his main fantasy value will be as a handcuff to Johnson. Jackie Battle takes over the role with Greene sidelined.
Description: Titans wideout Kevin Walter (back) has been placed on the PUP list and will miss the first six games of the season.
Insight: With Nate Washington, Kenny Britt, Kendall Wright and highly-touted rookie Justin Hunter already on the roster, Walter's fantasy impact is expected to be minimal in 2013 even if he were healthy, which apparently he is not.
Description: Tennessee wideout Kendall Wright's MRI revealed a sprain rather than a tear, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Wright won't play for the rest of the preseason but hasn't been ruled out for Week 1. The second-year receiver has impressed during training camp but isn't going to be a fantasy option outside PPR leagues even if he's healthy.
Description: Tennessee wideout Kendall Wright said he was "pretty worried" about the knee injury he suffered Saturday against the Bengals.
Insight: The good news is, it looks like he was able to avoid an ACL tear as Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean is hearing that it's probably just a sprain. That would sideline Wright for about 2-to-4 weeks, putting his availability in question for Week 1's matchup against Pittsburgh.
Description: Titans receiver Kenny Britt missed his third straight practice Tuesday due to swelling in his right knee, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.
Insight: It's the same knee in which Britt suffered a torn ligament two seasons ago. He has the tools to be a top-flight wide receiver but due to injuries and inconsistent QB play shouldn't be counted on as anything more than a WR4.
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson made a brief, but impressive, display in the preseason opener, rushing twice for 60 yards including a 58-yard touchdown run.
Insight: Johnson figures to share a significant portion of the workload with Shonn Greene, but that worked well for Johnson in his rookie season when he shared time with LeDale White. Johnson has only rushed for 10 touchdowns over the last two seasons so yielding goal line carries to Greene shouldn't hurt his value too much, particularly if he breaks off a few long runs.
Description: Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker will get as many reps as possible during the exhibition season, according to head coach Mike Munchak.
Insight: If true, Locker will post gaudy stats in the exhibition season, but fantasy owners will have to look past the numbers and see how he's playing before jumping on the Locker bandwagon. Most quarterbacks get at most five quarters of action over the exhibition season, but it appears Locker may see more work than that.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker has been dealing with a knee injury from a June OTA and was placed on the active PUP list Wednesday.
Insight: Walker's fantasy value is likely to take a hit until he proves he's healthy. The Titans have a crowded receiving corps and Walker was already going to struggle to get enough targets for fantasy relevance and if he's less than 100 percent that concern goes even higher.
Description: Titans wideout Kevin Walter (back) has been placed on the active PUP list, according to Tennessee beat writer Jim Wyatt.
Insight: With Nate Washington, Kenny Britt, Kendall Wright and highly-touted rookie Justin Hunter already on the roster, Walter's fantasy impact would be minimal in 2013 even if he were healthy, which apparently he is not.
Description: Titans rookie receiver Justin Hunter was sidelined during OTAs with a hamstring injury and that's not good for his first-year fantasy value.
Insight: Receivers' coach Shawn Jefferson said as much in a Tennessean report. The Titans have four wideouts who can catch and a solid tight end. Hunter will need to be on the field if he is to carve out fantasy value.
Description: Former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard has agreed to a one-year deal with the Titans.
Insight: Pollard's physical style of play should serve him well in Tennessee. He's coming off a 98-tackle season last year in Baltimore. For his career he has 585 tackles and nine interceptions in 105 games.
Description: The Titans dumped quarterback Matt Hasselbeck on Monday.
Insight: It looks like the veteran won't be out of work for long. NFL Network's Ian Rapaport is reporting that Hasselbeck is close to inking a two-year agreement with Indianapolis. If Hasselbeck joins the Colts he'll be Andrew Luck's backup and won't have any real fantasy value.
Description: The Titans have signed Shonn Greene to a three-year, $10 million contract.
Insight: Greene has rushed for 1,000 yards in two straight seasons but we wouldn't exactly call him an impact back. He'll back up Chris Johnson and provide some short yardage and power running even though he doesn't do either of those things particularly well.
Description: The Titans decided not to use their franchise tag on tight end Jared Cook.
Insight: Cook was preparing to ask for the wide receiver's minimum rather than the significantly lower tight end salary and the Titans decided it just wasn't worth the hassle. Now that Cook is officially a free agent, Jason La Canfora from CBS expects the Rams (coached by Cook's former Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher) to make a run at him.
Description: The Titans are expected to use their franchise tag on tight end Jared Cook. SOURCE: Terry McCormick, National Football Post
Insight: If only it were that simple. Technically Cook is listed as a tight end but he's trying to argue that he's actually a wide receiver. As a tight end, Cook (44 catches, 523 yards, four TD in 2012) would only be entitled to $6.066 million but as a wideout, he'd earn more than $10 million. It will be interesting to see if Cook's decision to call himself a wide receiver will influence his fantasy eligibility at all next season. Obviously, he'd be worth much more as a tight end than he would be as a wideout. He'd just be making a lot less money.
Description: Titans coach Mike Munchak told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com that he wants to acquire a short-yardage rusher to take the load off Chris Johnson, but that Johnson will still get his touches "in different ways."
Insight: Munchak pointed to the partnership Johnson had with Lendale White in Johnson's rookie year, when White had 200 carries and 15 rushing touchdowns. Johnson had a career-low 251 carries that season but was still an effective fantasy player. Johnson has only rushed for 10 touchdowns over the last two seasons so we can't see a short-yardage back hurting his value too much.
Description: ESPN reports that the Titans will not be releasing franchise running back Chris Johnson.
Insight: The Titans could have shed $9 million in cap room by cutting Johnson before Saturday but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. CJ2K finished the 2012 campaign with 1,243 rushing yards. That was good for ninth-best in the NFL.
Description: Tennessee halfback Chris Johnson said that he hasn't been in touch with the team since the season ended.
Insight: Johnson mentioned this on a radio interview with 104.5 The Zone in Nashville while also acknowledging that the Titans might cut him in the offseason. Obviously Johnson, who has rushed for 1,000 yards in each of his first five NFL seasons, is a valuable part of the Titans' offense but cutting him would also allow Tennessee to free up $10 million in cap space.
Description: The police have determined that Kenny Britt is not a suspect in a New Jersey stabbing/shooting incident that occurred last weekend. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, Nashville Tennessean
Insight: Britt was brought in for questioning on Tuesday. Britt has shown up in the police blotter many times over the years but luckily for fantasy owners it hasn't affected his performance on the field.
Description: Jim Wyatt at the Nashville Tennessean reports that Titans quarterback Jake Locker had surgery on his left shoulder on Tuesday.
Insight: Locker suffered through two injuries to the shoulder during the season. The team hopes he'll be ready for May OTAs, but he should certainly be ready for training camp. The Titans have a lot of offensive talent, so if Locker can step up his game, he could be a low-end fantasy starter.
Description: According to the Nashville Tennessean, Titans quarterback Jake Locker will undergo left shoulder surgery "in the near future."
Insight: Locker was given the starting job at the beginning of the season but was never able to find his groove in Tennessee's offense. Maybe the shoulder injury had something to do with that but we still don't have high hopes for him going into 2013.
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries Sunday against Jacksonville.
Insight: The question is, has Johnson done enough to warrant fantasy owners spending a first-rounder on him again in 2013? The five games in which he ran for 725 yards and four touchdowns on 103 carries (7.0 ypc) say yes, but the other 11 in which he had 518 yards and two scores on 173 carries (3.0 ypc) suggest some major inconsistency.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright should be able to play Sunday despite a cracked rib. Wright practiced in full Thursday.
Insight: Wright has had a solid rookie season with 62 receptions in 14 games but is only averaging 9.5 yards per catch with a high game of 78 yards. He sat out Sunday's 55-7 blowout at the hands of Green Bay and should only be used in the deepest of PPR leagues in Week 17 against the Jaguars.
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson, who left Sunday's game for a short time with a right ankle injury, will not be 100 percent for the season finale.
Insight: With no team or individual goals to play for, there is a solid chance that Johnson doesn't play in Week 17 against Jacksonville. Johnson has rushed for 1,187 yards and five touchdowns this season.
