Description: Although it is a small sample size, Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison is 4-for-5 with a solo home run and a walk against Giants starter Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Harrison just behind Justin Morneau for the NL batting title with a .315 average. He also had 58 extra-base hits, 52 RBI, 77 runs and 18 stolen bases. Pittsburgh will need him to set the tone on Wednesday.

Travis Ishikawa, 1B, MIL9/30/2014 8:58:00 PM

Insight: With Angel Pagan and Michael Morse out with injuries, the Giants are searching for viable replacements in left and center field. Jayson Nix, SS, KAN9/30/2014 11:31:00 AM
Description: Don't be surprised if IF Jayson Nix finds his way into the starting lineup against Oakland left-hander Jon Lester.

Description: Yankees manager Joe Girardi told ESPN New York on Monday that he expects Alex Rodriguez to be the team's third baseman next season.
Insight: Girardi went on to say A-Rod doesn't automatically have the job, but he should be able to be the everyday third baseman if healthy. Even though this news likely makes Yankee fans want to puke, the team could really use a power right-handed bat. That's if Rodriguez can be somewhat of his old self. Reality seems to have set in for Rodriguez, who must have figured out he stood almost no chance of winning this case in federal court. A-Rod will sit out the entire 2014 season as he serves a 162-game PED suspension. Rodriguez will not be reporting to spring training later this month.
Josh Donaldson, 3B, OAK9/29/2014 8:31:00 PM
Description: Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson told Comcast SportsNet California that his left knee feels more stable than it did a few days ago.
Insight: Donaldson did not run very much on Monday, but he is expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Royals in the AL Wild Card game. His knee has been an issue for the second half of the season, but Donaldson has still been able to hit .280 over that time. His power, however, seems to have been effected as he has just nine homers since the break.
Trevor Plouffe, 3B, MIN9/29/2014 5:33:00 PM
Description: Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe underwent surgery to repair his fractured left forearm according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Jed Lowrie, SS, OAK9/28/2014 6:56:00 PM
Description: Athletics shortstop Jed Lowrie had a two-run single in the season finale against the Rangers.
Insight: Lowrie provided some much needed insurance with his two RBI in the ninth inning to extend the Athletics lead to 4-0. Overall however, Lowrie had a down season compared to his numbers last year. He hit .249/.321/.355 with six home runs and 50 RBI this season.

Description: Astros second baseman Jose Altuve registered two hits and finished with a .341 batting average to win the American League batting title.

Mark Teixeira, 1B, NYY9/28/2014 10:01:00 AM

Joe Mauer, 1B, MIN9/28/2014 9:53:00 AM
Description: Twins first baseman Joe Mauer is not a good fantasy start on the last day of the season.

Neil Walker, 2B, PIT9/28/2014 9:47:00 AM
Description: Pirates second baseman Neil Walker could be in line for a rough afternoon on Sunday.
Insight: He is a .171 career hitter (7-for-41) off Reds' starter Johnny Cueto, with seven strikeouts. In a game Pittsburgh needs to win, Walker is not a recommended daily play.
Josh Donaldson, 3B, OAK9/28/2014 9:34:00 AM
Description: Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson went 3-for-4 with a home run in a loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
Insight: It was unclear whether Donaldson would even start as the third baseman banged both his knees on Friday. Donaldson is batting .257 with 29 home runs and 98 RBI in 157 games this season.

Ryan Howard, 1B, PHI9/27/2014 10:18:00 PM
Description: Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard has big night at plate Saturday versus Atlanta.
Insight: He was 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI. Howard would have had his third RBI, but Chase Utley was thrown out at the plate in the fourth inning. Howard is a shell of his former self as he is hitting .223/.309/.448, but still provides power with 23 homeruns, and 95 RBI. His RBI total is actually fourth in the National League.
